If the JW parent had read this blog post (or if it was actually a note sent home, which of course would have been inappropriate, even if it was correct):
"AAAAHHH!!!! PERSECUTION!!! I'M BEING PERSECUTED!!!! THEY HATE ME AND MY CHILD BECAUSE WE ARE JWS, JUST LIKE THEY HATED JESUS. YES, WE ARE JUST LIKE JESUS. PERSECUTED AND HATED!!!!! AAAAAHHHHH"

what do you think of czeck beer?
by stillajwexelder ini think it is at least as good as german beer.
just drinking some now

Quotes
Czeck beer tastes better if the imbiber is sitting in the Old Town Square, in Prague, with a view of the Astronomical clock.
Mrs. Quotes and I enjoyed this experience this past summer.
Yes, in that setting, Czeck beer is excellent. Then again, the ambience would have made cheez whiz and crackers taste great, so I may be biased!

(from personal experience):
Direct quotes, fully referenced and cited, from WTS literature, can have only one purpose (according the WTS's own words: "too embarrass the WTS".
WTS uses costly litigation, provided by their in-house legal department, to stifle the very scrutiny they demand other religions receive. WTS has brought suit against at least one individual (yes, it was me) who was simply quoting their material. They are very similar to Scientology in this regard, in my opinion.
Oh, and that in-house legal department pretends to be an arms-length, separate agency, but even a rudimentary analysis would reveal they are actually an in-house department; WTS is the "dog" and the legal dept. is the "tail". This might not seem very important to the average person, but in certain legal situations it is quite dishonest, probably unethical, and possibly a contravention of law.

Funny!
I have also achieved the minority position: I have managed to out-last JWs in bible discussions (when, of course, they did not know who I am). It is a fun exercise in applied reasoning, as you can spend all your time mentally answering the question, "which logical fallacy are the committing now?"

Too Bad said:
If I did not know better I would think that perhaps the WTBTS is a cult.
Are you certain that you "know better"? (My apologies if this was just a rhetorical device).
WTBTS is a cult, according to generally accepted definitions. They demonstrate most (all?) of the identify traits of cults, to varying degrees.
Rabid demonization of material critical to the group, its beliefs, or its leadership, is one (of many) things that cults do. By itself, it is neither necessary (there are other cult traits) nor sufficient (you really need to see more than just one cult trait before identifying a group as a cult), but consider this particular box "checked".
BTW, I strongly recommend Steven Hassaan's book "Combatting Cult Mind Control" to anyone that wants to learn more about how to rationally identify cults.

Of the one's DF'd here, how many have been called on by the Elders?
by Fishbulb inwhen i left the organization one of the reasons i did so was because of the hypocrisy i saw within the congregation regarding sheepherding the weak.
people who were struggling to make meetings, ones who were house-ridden due to illness or depression, ones who don't keep a prominent position in the hall, these ones were all ignored.
i was one who never ever ever missed a meeting and in august i suddenly stopped going.

Watchtower will seek to have it's costs paid?
Let's see... cost of slave, live-in lawyers, with no profit sharing, no medical/dental, no benefits of any kind: $5 per day.
No problem, $200 should cover it.
Of course, in the WTS fanatasy world, their bun-bakers-turned-lawyers will magically "cost" Bay Street Senior partner rates ($800 per hour). And they will mysteriously produce time sheets indicating that Gnam spent 36 hours per 24 hour day, 7 days per week, since before the case was even filed. Because THAT is how GLEN HOW and ASSOCIATES does business.
I'm still hoping that Revenue Canada will investigate How and Associates tax returns to see that there is no "arms length" distance between them and Crap Tower.

She obviously didn't get the memo!
JWs are NOT supposed to say "I can't do this because of my religion" because then it makes the religion look restrictive, which is both bad publicity for WTS and also puts them in a legally dangerous position (I think it is illegal in some countries -- maybe Australia??-- for any organization to direct its members to NOT vote.
She is supposed to say "my careful and personal study of the bible has led me to the conclusion that I must remain neutral, and that means I personally choose to not vote. I make this statement of my own volition, without duress."
Now lets try it one more time from the top people!!!!! Come on now, the school play is only 6 weeks away!!!
And a one... and a two...

Some of the Gospels that did NOT make the final vote in the third century (Counsel of Nicea) include many tales of the young Uber-Man impresing his friends with tricks like bringing small animals back to life and turning clay animals into real animals.
You know, kind of like magic.
Of course, no wonder those CRAZY things were not kept in the final version of the bible. We only kept the imprtant, non-crazy stuff. Like bringing humans back to life and turning water into wine and multiplying fishes and loaves. you know, the non-magical stuff.
