I wouldn't mind one, but gosh theres so many to choose from, it would take me quite a while to pick one out, where to have it put and then I'd wonder if once it's done if thats the one I really like.

On the flip side... a question for those not raised as a jw
by TheSilence inokay, someone recently asked if those raised as jws felt they would have gone for it as adults.
my question is for those of you not raised as a jw, what convinced you that it really was "the truth"?
ive often wondered and come upon my own theories as to why people join this religion, but i find that when friends ask me what makes people join i cant really answer in a way that they understand.. jackie

my husband had some witnessing when he was a young lad, their postman was a witness and would come by on his weekends off. they were Lutheran, His mother said she didn't need it but her son might.LOL
it wasn't until we were in our thirties that I answered the door and they asked if they could come back, I said ok but I might not be there. Hubby then gets them the next time and thinking that he's chased off the Baptists and others that he could do the same with the Witnesses, so he would bring up questions that they had to go and do research on. I guess we should of been doing our own research because knowing now, they did always have the answers but they were their answers. Plus his father had passed away early on in the study and we thought it was great that he had some literature in his house and we wanted to see him in the new system.
for me, I have always had a belief in God and being raised a Catholic there was little study using the bible, so I was taught new things such as what happens at death, the paradise, and I wanted our sons to have a religion that both of us were in.
now I feel I have to learn the bible all over again, this time I use the internet and other books for my research

just a blizzard in North Dakota it was around 4 p.m.
I wanted to get home insted of staying at someones house, we traveled through the whiteout heading south (5 miles) with the north wind pushing us, keep in mind, N Dakota is open and flat. we could see the road that was a foot in front of the car. we then had to turn left on to our 1/2 mile gravel driveway with the wind blowing straight north, the only way we stayed on was by me looking out the passenger side window that had to be open for me to see if we were still on the gravel or not.
sad to say a teacher and some students died in his car that year, the thing was he was a survival instructor.
I think my hubby was a little PO'd at me when we got home. but"we got home dear"

If Jehovah's Witnesses Weren't So "Cultish," Would You Have Remained A JW?
by minimus ini see that millions of people belong to a religion yet may be non-practicing.
there are home baptists, catholics that go to church just once a year, and others that are not considered "devout" but still are members of a certain religion.
if the witnesses were much more relaxed in their approach as to how they enforced their views and gave people more "normal" rights so as to believe or not believe certain things, could you see yourself totally out of this religion?

would I stay if they were more relaxed in their views? NO
I'd say having the two witness rule was way to relaxed, they lie and they cover it up. When the Catholic church was aired for their pedophile problem I was thinking that we were fortunate not to have that in our faith and that if I was a Catholic I would of left. How hipicritical it would of been for me to stay when date-line aired the JW's. It made me literally sick.
when my husband studied he would argue almost every point with the elder, the elder said to him," Jerry if 99% of what I say is the truth then that 1% also has to be the truth.
jerry replied with, yes if that 1% turns out to be a lie then I have to question everything you say after that.
we did our own research and guess what?
we left.

by El Kabong ini saw a reply by francois on another thread asking what the heck is marmite.
we americans with our (a-hem) "refined tastes" really don't eat this stuff.

we are so sorry to have chased the bad weather out of the Heartland. fri night started out with rain and we ended up with 9 inches of snow. kids were disappointed that it wasn't a school day. hope you don't have to go anywhere when it gets nasty out.
