  Awkward, but kinda funny encounter with JWs today

  i live in a majority-minority neighborhood, so i get the double witness whammy of my street being worked by both spanish- and english-speaking congregations.

  jws come to my door about four times a year, but i stopped answering years ago.

  what's interesting is that about two years ago, they stopped knocking on my door or ringing the doorbell.

  Where in the scriptures does it say that if someone speaks a language different from your congregation, even if you and the householder speak a language that you both know well, that they should DENY you the lifesaving message they offer?

  If JW's believe they have the truth and deny you the message because of this made up rule, they personally, and the elders and policy-makers who enforce these rules are blood-guilty. Plain as day.

  /EDIT This, to me, adds to the biggest problem I personally have with the Jehovah's Witness religion. They clearly serve a corporation, and not God, or even Jesus.

  i was too sleepy to say anything and the guy was very nice and friendly, so i just took the magazines and smiled.. a couple of absolutely awesome graphics from the awake:.

  "Dress Code" for JW Funeral / Memorial Service

  so, i'm attending a funeral for someone that was in the local congregation today.. i told my mom what i planned on wearing- a cute, dark grey blouse and some nicely tailored black pants.

  she just about lost it.. mom- "you can't wear pants, it's at the kingdom hall!!!".

  mom- "well, i guess you could, but you would feel so awkward and uncomfortable.

  FOURTEEN DEAD IN DENVER SHOOTING !

  more than one gunman seems to be involved in this terrible act.

  families were attending mid-night showings of the dark knight movie.. the media should not give publicity tothe names of the perpetrators, they often crave the fame.

  give them that fame and others will crave it too.. my thoughts are with the families of all that are affected, a horrific and pointless act that will bring so much pain and sorrow.. edited to say, seems as though it was a lone gunman..

  Thank you Botzwana. All that gun laws do is keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. Chicago and D.C. are two cities that have (or had) banned handguns and during the time of gun bans still had phenomenal crime rates.

  Murder is already illegal, just because you make a law does not mean criminals will obey it.

  This is a tradgedy, To prevent it we need to spend more time on why this happened, instead of blaming the tool that happened to be used.

  My heart goes out to the ones affected and their families.

  Thor answered my prayer

  where i live in the usa we are experiencing record breaking drought and heat.

  over a month with no rain and 27 consecutive days with heat above 90. forcast calls for tripple digit heat for the next 7 days.. last night i broke down an prayed to thor, this morning he answered my prayer as i heard thunder at 5am and woke up to see rain.

  only 1/10 of an inch, but rain that was not in the forcast.. is this not proof that thor is a true god?.

  every judicial case has a form that is filled out after the decision to disfellowshipped is made.

  the form includes the reasons for the action, a brief synopsis of the case.

  it is then stuck in a special blue envelope and mailed to the branch.

  hello, i am (almost) new here, and in the beginning i didn't really think that i would ever post something here.

  but then.... yesterday i had a little experience, nothing important , people who haven't been in the organisation have probably a hard time to understand why it's even worth talking (writing) about.

  but i though if there are people who can relate to it, they are here, and if not this post will just disappear in the internet and no harm was done.. i was walking my friends' dogs in the evening sun, not thinking about anything.
