I cast another vote for Beethoven's 7th, especially the second movement, Allegretto. My favorite recording of it is from Leonard Bernstein's Final Concert.

What do you think the Society's future holds?
by KW13 ini get the feeling the society is gonna suffer a huge loss of number, with people who are in getting old, those 'raised' in the so called truth leaving and less and less interested ones because more people are aware.. .
it has its ups and downs but it seems the ups aren't as big as they used to, some never recovered from 1975 and others from the 1995 generation thingy.. your thoughts?.

Elsewhere, Thanks for the stats. One stat I would like to see is hours in field service per baptism over time. I bet anything it takes a lot more hours to gain a baptism now than it did forty years ago.

The Israelites cried "Peace and Security" when the Roman armies besieging Jerusalem withdrew. The sudden destruction came when those Roman armies came back. r51785 of the Preterist class

Be Honest: Did You ACTUALLY Report Accurate Field Service Time?
by minimus ini bet most people did not.
i think nearly everyone counted time spent on breaks.
or sitting in the car for an hour and a half while the elders did a "shepherding" call.

One more point: The workers had a saying in the former Soviet Union -- "They pretend to pay us, so we pretend to work." How hard will the average publisher work if he feels he'll never see the paradise earth? The faith of many dubs is rotting from the inside out. The numbers prove it!

I believe that fudging on or out and out lying about one's time is becoming more prevalent. To prove my point one only needs to look at Watchtower statistics. Thirty years ago in 1975, 382,296,208 hours were spent in field service and 295,073 were baptized. This translates into 1296 hours spent preaching to gain one baptism. Fast forward to 2005: 1,278,201,985 hours were spent in field service and 247,631 were baptized. This translates into 5162 hours spent preaching to gain one baptism. The 2005 number is 4 times the number in 1975! Even if you allowed that it only took half as many hours to create a new convert in 1975 [which is certainly explainable by the fact that 1975 marked the end of 6000 years of human existence ;)], then at least half the time reported in 2005 had to be fraudulent.

If this was real they would have brought all 30 up to the stage to show them off. Is there no end to the amount of lying that is required to be "in the truth?"

Disassociate the Inactive? Maybe Not.
by metatron inimagine what would happen in countless congregations across the globe if the society formally announced that "so and so is no longer one of.
jehovah's witnesses" simply because they became inactive.. not only would many congregations suffer under the burden of having their younger witness demographic get "expelled" , often one by .
one, in a steady drip as they fornicate/smoke/do weed/whatever, man - but you now add a regular stream of .

I think history has shown that the dubs prefer a few rabid members over a larger number of more casual members. The announcement that so and so is no longer a Jehovah's Witness (due to being inactive) fits right in with this mentality. However this is only a short term solution for their survival. But since the rulers of the Theocratic Politburo are all well up in age, maybe a short term solution is all they care about. After all the end is near for anyone over age 70, whether by "Armageddon" or just the plain old ordinary "end" we all experience -- death.

I wonder if Vladir has a last name or did the dub who made up this urban legend forget to make up a last name for him.

Say, "Let's pray together," and then grab them by the hand and start praying out loud to Jesus. Witnesses are scared of anyone else praying.
