JW family made contact....
by LouBelle in.....after 8 years of us being disfellowshipped.
the made contact through my aunt who is still 'in' - as in she has faded but is not disfellowshipped and will pop to a meeting now and again - she does this for my grans' sake.. the contact was from my aunt and uncle (he's an elder) these were the 2 witnesses used against me in my judicial case.
they contacted my aunt and said to forward the message onto us.

What movie did you walk out on when a jw? Have you seen it since? What changed?
by Wasanelder Once inok i walked out on austin powers because i thought it was so crude and god dishonoring.
since the fade i think it is very funny, still not a favorite but not the end of the world either.
any movies that were a big sin are nothing now?

I walked out of The Fountain, but only because it was so shockingly awful. What a steaming pile of crap. I have started to watch it since and nothing had changed.
Sex, drugs and swearing were all good for me. I remember offending a sister because Sexual Healing came on the radio in the car and I knew all the words...

Is that discrimination for not hiring straight people?
by Iamallcool ini do know one agency (i will not give a clue what kind of agency is it, etc...) that was run by a straight married female and her staff did not have any gay people in it and she quit to move to another state with her husband.
the board of directors hired a gay male to head the staff, the staff slowly quit by one by one for some unknown reasons and he begin to hire gay people to work for him, i now do not see any single straight worker working for him, is that discrimination for not hiring straight people?.

I'd work there in a heartbeat. No one sings showtunes with me where I work, It'd be Glee central at this agency...

"Something amusing to get you reading my post"
by frogonmytoe ini have been reading threads on here for months, having not been to a meeting in about 3 years, and spending the year prior to that avoiding them.
considering i am gay and now live with my boyfriend, i think we can consider me officially drifted, or fallen away, or whatever semantic nonsense the wts uses for specifying the manner of our waking up.
anyway, i thought it about time i said hello and hopefully make some new friends with whom i can talk about things.

Irondork,
Thanks, I will take a look at those threads later (just back from work!) I'm glad you know where I am, being told that you chose your sexual orientation, and that you are part of the problem - some comments and the KH were tantamount to the Westboro Baptist Church blaming terrorism on gays - and that your very existence was repulsive to God takes some getting over I'm not sure I'm ready to search just yet.
And for your information, Irondork, I don't flit, I stomp like the big butch bear I am. (Believe that, you'll believe anything...)
And don't have an argument on my account, you two!

Well I was brought up a witness, but always had little misgivings. Mainly that who I found myself attracted to didn't sit well. I know the argument about sin kind of covers the fact that I was born like this from their point of view, but the vitriol that I faced at most meetings talking about "the gays" seemed neither christian nor even WTS-endorsed, merely an opportunity to air homophobic feelings. I have known at least a dozen gay and lesbian witnesses, all but two have left and found partners, just like me!
I am not d'fd and keep my communication with witnesses to a minimum (I have SO many ex-jw friends on Facebook, I clearly lost a lot of current witnesses when they saw who I was 'associating' with. I moved from my original hall 4 years ago, and never moved my cards. I think I'm near-enough safe, although if they fancy a witchhunt, who am I to stop them.
I am so glad your cousin helped you out when you needed it Mum. We all need someone to run to. I don't think most R&F Witnesses are bad people, although you get the power-hungry elders and sycophantic servants and the worship of COs and DOs... Boy am I glad to be free and able to think and express myself. But in addition to escaping, you can also play blackjack all night, and see Celine in concert any time you fancy! (Which I hope is never... :-))
And clarity, I am a huge Tori Amos fan, and Frog on My Toe is one of her less well-known songs. So entirely someone else's imagination I'm afraid.
Thank you both for the welcome.

Thank you all!
Hey, I didn't want to imply I am looking to connect EXCLUSIVELY with people from Spain or the UK! Just that they will be more convenient to see in person!
Unstopable - yes of course, I get what you are saying, unfortunately I don't know if I'm ready for a spiritual search yet, the JW teachings are still hanging around and clouding my view...
Gorgia - thank you! Didn't manage WA when I visited Oz a few years back, but I have family (non-JW) in Tas, Sydney and Canberra.
Quandry - well at least now you know someone from Spain, and I live REALLY close to the beach :-)
Well Mouthy, you may well be my Essex Granny! I too was born in Dagenham (well Rush Green actually) so despite you having lives in Canada for so long, I'm sure we'll see eye-to-eye. Plus, you avoided all the Essex jokes...
Xanthippe, well I hope I'm not a typical Londonder, lots of my family live in and around Nottingham, so although it IS north of Watford, it's not so grim as the other Londoners say.
And whathappened - of course! But now I feel a little pressure to make them interesting...

Hi Everyone,
I have been reading threads on here for months, having not been to a meeting in about 3 years, and spending the year prior to that avoiding them. First, a little about myself:
My homosexuality was the cause of my leaving, but the cementing of the decision was actually being able to think and reason for myself, I had had problems with certain aspects of the teachings, but had let fear or death at the big A stop me from following them.
Currently I am still trying to work out if I believe in god or not, and if I did, who I would imagine him to be.
My three sisters are all still witnesses, but my father's family never were, and are highly unlikely to ever be.
I live in Spain now, but am from London originally, and I return there once or twice a year.
So, if you by coincidence, live in Spain (or know of any Spanish based websites such as this) give me a shout. If you are from London / Essex / Kent, also give me a shout. Actually, just give me a shout if you fancy it. I'd be interested if some of the people I had my doubts about back in the UK recognise me too... :-)
