I doubt they would write it down, but they seem to be specialist on ending a marriage and blaming the other part. I know of too many cases, specially of elders and men with responsibilities that were not treating their wives very well and then, when the wives leave them or the organization, they appear to be the innocent ones and marry another sister. Clever.

Did Jesus ever use the name Jehovah?
by biometrics inwhile growing up as a jw this was a question i often wondered about: did jesus ever call his heavenly father by the name jehovah?
and if he did, why wasn't it recorded.. i know there's plenty of references such as john 17:6, 26 where it says "i have made your name manifest to the men ...".
however is there anywhere in the bible where jesus used the actual word jehovah?.

What do you think would happen if a SISTER shaved her head?

It would just show that her “head” was ashamed of her speaking. Interestingly Paul mentions also that Jesus is the head of the head, and God is the head of Jesus, and they both didn’t seem to have any problems in hearing women speaking. In ancient Israel God used women as prophetises and judges and Jesus always treated women as equals, even non-Israelite ones. If a husband feels threatened by his wife speaking, it may be a sign that they are not a good match for each other.

How Do You Deal With The Shunning You Receive From "Captive" Witnesses?
by Bubblegum Apotheosis ini am liking don's term "captive to a concept" more and more, it explains so much about the mindset of average dubs.. to those who are being activily shunned, how does it affect you when you see former friends and family, do the sideway's crab-walk to get away?
you are not alone, shunning is happening to weaker witnesses in the congregations, this practice is not sanctioned by the watchtower society, this trait is straight from satan the devil, it pure evil and cruel!
as i post, this new trait is being taught to the power player's apprentices, teaching them how to do the "weak witnesses exit stage left!

Every time I come across this type of behaviour, I feel even more grateful for not having absolutely anything to do with them anymore. It’s great to be free and they are not.
I’ve come across many elderettes during my time, so much for the fruitages of submissiveness.

As happy as one can be when the decisions in your life and in the lives of those around you are being taken by some self appointed annointed.

Was Any Part of it Real?
by Big Tex ini'm sort of following a stream of consciousness so bear with me.
i was flipping around on tv and ran across an old movie.
a couple had a one night stand and when she realized he had just used her she was shocked and told him he had said he loved her.

Big Tex, as in the movie, they were real at the time. Saying that, a relationship is between two individuals, if one of the individuals has lost his/her personal identity in deference to a group, you are not dealing with an individual anymore, so it’s the equivalent of you having a personal relationship with an entity through its representatives. It’s real in a sense, but it’s not what human relationships are about. Personally I think that the relationships in the organization are very superficial in general, as there is never the level of trust and openness that is required to have meaningful relationships. They are isolated from each other as their main loyalty will always be to the organization.

The real truth is that you know you've recovered when you stop caring about JW's
by gubberningbody init's perhaps sad, but perhaps a bit of wisdom to come to realize how insignificant jws really are.. .
you finally get to the point where you don't even care what happens to the borg one way or another.. .
this said after almost four years..

You know you are recovered when you are the owner of your own life and decisions. For some people this happens when they are still in the organization, some take years to fully recover even after they leave. Everybody should care about cults, they have an effect on the whole of society and the way society evolves.

UK Anti-Cult charity under threat of closure
by cedars ini'm wondering what you all make of this story from the guardian regarding the cult information centre - a uk charity that aims to raise awareness of cults.
it seems that it's on the verge of having its charitable status withdrawn (or, at least, this was the case three months ago).
unsurprisingly, the complaints that have led to its potential closure stem from cults such as the church of scientology.. here is the story:.

This is very serious. A cult is a group that manipulates and takes advantage of people, an anti-cult is a group that helps people recover from a cult. They have their own beliefs? Sure, so do you and me and everyone else. Do they coerce anyone to accept their beliefs? Do they exploit people’s vulnerabilities for their own gain? Do they respect basic human rights like freedom to dissent? Do they blackmail people that is trapped in to make them disclose their private lives, that they have no right to know much less to judge? Do they harass people that leave the group in any way? If you think about it, it is not so difficult to distinguish one from the other.
If they talk about Jesus and the Trinity is because jws despite calling themselves Christians are anti-Christians. Exposing that doesn’t make you a cult. What someone chooses to believe is his/her personal decision, stepping in someone else’s personal rights is not. Not respecting somebody’s personal conscience goes high on the list of cult traits.
About the therapist that had to stop helping people, that goes beyond cult or not cult, it is just criminal.

It makes them feel better about themselves. If you look happy they seem surprised. One way the society keeps them in is by fear of what is in the world, so they will think twice before leaving the organization. Everybody knows stories of the ones who left and how bad they fared. I noticed that some of them seem envious of the ones with the courage to leave anyway. Deep down they know, even though they are too trapped to even realize why they feel this way.

The Catholic church in Spain and Italy is already a big source of income to the State in terms of tourism. They own a big part of the historical patrimony of this countries. That and all the services they provide like schools, charities, etc, and the religious support to individuals, that comes without a blank check for them to run your life as they please. Not all religions are the same.
