  your elders and ministerial servants are just men, not prophets, not appointed by holy spirit, they are human beings like you.. you attribute or impute some quality to us that does not exist, we are not any close to god than you are.

  the training we received did not prepare us for the kinds of situations we were thrown into.

  In every congregation there are some elders that try to do their best, and there are also the big egos that put themselves above the others. Same goes for elderettes.

  Unfortunately the organization promotes the differentiation of people based on their title, and on external appearances, and the ones at the bottom of the hierarchy become dependent and approval-seeking of the ones at the top, which contributes to the degradation of everyone as they become followers of men rather than followers of Christ.

  Critizising the elders is like going against the holy spirit, the only unforgivable sin, so the simple sheep will think twice before opening their mouths against the arrangement. Not that many in the congregation will listen, after all nobody wants to be like rebel Korah and his followers that ended up being swallowed by the earth.

  there are some major problems with the jws, doctrinally, socially, and organizationally.

  from shunning to crazy elder bodies to guilt trips, there are many things that were really bad.

  this thread is devoted to the small, insignificant things that just really really irked you.

  Being looked at as a Pharisee for voicing a different point of view

  No. My last couple of years in the organization, I had the feeling that sometimes we were being called IDIOTS from the platform. Maybe I was more awake, or more fed up, but I could see it in neon lights sometimes. Without reading the experiences of others that walked the walk before me I would have felt more lonely in my struggle, but I don’t think I would have come back this time. I am very grateful to all those that post in this forum, I owe you a big part of my freedom, it would have been very difficult without you, so thank you.

  My guess is none. I agree with the percentages of breakfast for champions. Not sure if it is intentional, or they have a lot of closet apostates as phizzy says, but it looks like lately they are really pushing it. Some children wont be impressed with the video once their parents start asking them to throw all their magic toys.

  "Blunders that led to World War"

  on the watchtower.org site at the moment, they are featuring a link to an article that first appeared in the august 2009 awake!

  that purportedly talks about how world war i began.. in jw make-believe land, world war i began suddenly, and was essentially a big surprise.

  so it's interesting to note that the one of the most significant things that led to world war ithe first and second balkan warsare completely omitted from the article.

  History is a continuum, events can not be studied separately, 1914 did not happen out of the blue, neither did II WW. There were political and economical problems long before everything exploded that lead to the wars. Apart from costing millions of lives both wars had a significant political effect.

  Hopefully we will never have to endure a III WW and hopefully we will start demanding responsibilities from the ones that lead us to the current crisis before it is too late.

  JW, Religion, Cult or Pyramid Scheme?

  hello.. here is some thought provoking debate that may help people investigate the true nature of the watch tower society.. this surely should be something that everyone who belongs to the society and any one who plans to convert should do.. i did this myself, after getting involved with a girl who was a fanatical jw and by doing so, i believe that i discovered the true nature of the wt.. but please, do not take my word for it, please do your own research and reading.. this is really important as by signing up or getting baptised as a jw, you are basically surendering your own personal rights to an unknown authority who proclaims to speak for god.

  and by doing so you will suffer major negative socio-economic implications on a daily basis due to the restrictions and demands enforced by those involved and in control of the ws.. personally, learning how the watch tower society got started was enough to convince me that the watch tower society is not what it proclaims to be.

  my suspicions were compounded after learning more about nathan knors (past president of the watch tower society) involvement with the nazi's in the second world war.. for those out there who do not know how the watch tower society got started, i recommend that you research the main man behind it joseph franklin rutherford, as it was not as many jw's believe, charles taze russel who started the society but russel's lawyer joseph franklin rutherford, a man whom in my opinion was of questionable character, who underhandedly seized power over russel's followers after russel's death.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/watch_tower_society_presidency_dispute_(1917).

  theannointed, welcome to this forum. Totally agree with you about keeping track of the people in charge of the organization and their connections. The question is if there is anybody with real interest in getting to the bottom of it.

  Hi Rory, thanks for posting this letter, I hope things have worked out well for you.

  Regarding them, it is like talking to a wall, no amount of reasoning will change them, they are moved by other interests, also they are not free themselves. But while the majority of the r&f doesn’t have access to this type of injustices that go on behind the scenes, the elders know better, and either they have no respect for God and are just hypocrites, or this is just another proof of the damage this organization does to otherwise good people.

  JWs and Neutrality

  jws have always had a problem with neutrality:.

  1) during ww i they encouraged via the magazines to buy war bonds, i.e., liberty bonds, as it was then known, thus actively supporting the war effort (search, under "war bonds").. 2) during ww ii, the australian branch also invested heavily in war bonds in order for the ban to be lifted.

  after the war, they had to repent, before jehovah could bless their efforts again.. 3) more recently the wts has invested in companies with defense contracts.. 4) membership of the un as ngo (1992-2001).

  I vote as I consider it not only a right but an obligation as a citizen. If you don’t vote you let others decide for you. That’s what the witnesses are brainwashed to do in every aspect of their lives.

  I think they are everything but neutral, but what they support I don't know. Saying that nobody is truly neutral. Being neutral in the midst of an injustice is the equivalent of condoning it.

  in the past i've compared the wts to slavery, but this book validates what i've come to know about this organization.. .

  There are different forms of slavery. Enslaving somebody’s mind is definitely slavery. It doesn’t need to be religion, it can be politically or ideologically, as in 1984, or in any totalitarian regime, through stern social and media control.

  The WT does enslave people mentally, otherwise they would have no followers.
