Dgp, you are right, and that just proves the point, you can be part of the Church and still be your own person, with your own opinions.
The WT is totalitarian, you need to conform, or else.
They support two completely different ways of seeing the world. I prefer the one where I can exercise my right to disagree safely.

That is an opinion. For me what is irrational is looking at the Universe and don’t believe there is a Creator. But I don’t insult people that believe there isn’t any.
The Church can not be compared to the WT, sorry.

When Jesus said your house is abandoned to you, means that future prophecies are not referring to literal Israel.
That’s my opinion.
in doing some research a few years back, i came across the use of "breaking session" as something used to control cult members by leadership.
initially, i dismissed this a something smaller, more extreme cults use - and dismissed it as a technique used by the jw org.

They fit the criteria. Only for this reason, this would be a very destructive cult.
Of course there are many other reasons also.

The big difference is that the Catholic Church doesn’t control you or your life, as the WT does.
i hate my situation.
a very close relative is remarried to a man who before becoming a jw was a shady character.
he has said if he wasn't a jw, he'd have guns and stuff, always worried about things.
I mean the truth about the organization they are serving and financing. That does not negate their faith in God and the Bible, for which there are many interpretations.
