Not everybody has the same level of intelligence and moral quality. Claiming everybody is the same doesn’t change the fact that we are not.
The Bible can not be compared with any other book, and its value is not determined by those who don’t get anything out of it.
Loving your neighbour as yourself is one of those things that you don’t need a great deal of intelligence to comprehend, hence the simplicity and superiority of the Christian message.
People that come selling their own flavour of “freedom“, tend to have their own agenda, and are usually just enslaving people in their own way.
This week’s WT study was about “True Freedom”, a lesson in hypocrisy for anyone that cares to take it.

Obviously freedom means different things for different people, the WT sells “true“ freedom.
It’s difficult to be free when you are surrounded by people that want to impose you THEIR own view of what freedom is.

Jesus said “he that is not with me is against me“, people that were with him even though did not belong to his group of apostles had his approval. Mar 9:38-40
He also said he who saw him saw the Father.
The bottom line of the message of the Bible is quite simple. Ec 12:13, Mic 6:8

Terry, I remember a very good post you had a few months ago, about how the Bible is like a mirror and everyone gets out of it whatever he himself is.
To a certain extent it is so, but other things in the Bible are not open to interpretation, such as love God with your whole heart, soul, mind and heart and your neighbour as yourself.
What is open for interpretation is for example the meaning of Babylon the Great, and our conclusion will vary depending on our own capacity, and/or personal interests.

gosh... i cannot believe i have been disfellowshipped for over a year!

its so surreal.

because of my ingrained belief that the jw organisation is the one and only true religion, i often think about everything that has happened quite often.

Timothy, the thing to remember here is that you are not dealing with an individual but with an organization.
If it was him alone he may have had a different reaction, it’s difficult to know as he is not a free individual.

the watchtower society openly acknowledges that constant doctrinal changes are causing many to abandon their religion.

Whatever they say, the reasons why some people may choose to leave the Catholic Church are very different from the reasons people leave the WT, and so is the manner.
Leaving the WT means being exposed to being judged, losing your good name and being excluded by your friends and family. You may also be forced to leave for just being “brazen” and taking your own decisions even in personal matters.
Leaving the Catholic Church you know the door will always be open for you to come back and that you will be able to be your own person if you decide to do so.

hi, i'm not a jw, but am recently married to an disfellowshipped jw who does not believe in jw beliefs.

my stepson is being raised by his mother to be a jw.

In my opinion, the whole point of this corporation is to discredit Christianity.
Making money at the same time is a bonus.
