What does the society mean when using the term "Rank and File"?

Draconian Rules for Attending "Special Convention"

british dubs are invited to attend a special convention next summer in dublin , irish republic.

o k, this kind of trip has been done many times before.

however i have never seen such a crude and rigid set of rules that would apply to their own people going on a trip, at their own expense of course.

in my previous post i mentioned that i'm staying in the org because i think i got a sign from god...some of you asked a lot of questions about my sign and even shared the society's view on asking for signs which i didn't know.. i didn't disclose exactly what the sign was.. some of you asked me what it was and even stated that i know that you all would pick apart and prove that my sign was just a frivolous excuse to hold on to the org.. maybe you were right.. so i've decided to tell you all exactly what it was---no embellishments or exaggerations.

i would love to hear your opinions since i'm still in a terrible mess.sometimes i'm 100% this is not the truth then other times i'm 60%....i feel if god was giving me a sign i'd be 100% this is the truth you know?.

so i woke up that morning and organized to go meeting.

Dear MsGrowinGirl20, they are always giving talks about doubts, and how to ignore them, I remember many of this talks, never paid any attention to them, you shouldn’t either. All I can say to you is that if you are not happy that means that this is not the right place for you.

You don’t need this people to tell you how to live your life. The decisions you take now, will affect your future, you are the one that will have to live with the consequences, not them, so don‘t let them decide for you. If you feel suffocated in a place, it’s a clear sign to leave.

Take all this as a learning experience in your life, and move on. You don’t need to become a bitter apostate, just fade, tell them you are very busy at college, and find new friends and occupations. When the elders call you, tell them you don’t want to speak with them right now, you are busy, keep giving them excuses, you owe them no further explanation. Stick to your family and help your mother as much as you can. Take your cousin with you, explain to him that this is not the truth and that from now on you will both go to another church. Don’t make a drama out of it, just be honest with him about the whole situation, and help him in his own search for the truth.

There are many other churches that you can join, that are not so judgemental, controlling, and where you can serve God and still be your own person.

Please, be brave and leave this liars behind. All the best for your future.

I have been alone in a car with many brothers and nothing ever happened, but there was a particular brother in my congregation, with whom I would not want to be alone in a car even if I had to walk for miles to the territory. He was creepy. This was the perfect excuse.

What was the 2012 convention drama all about?

with all of the hype surrounding sparlock ... i didn't see anyone post anything about the sunday drama at the convention.. my husband and i decided that we were only going to attend the sunday of the convention.

we drove down, but got cold feet and we ended up going out for coffee and hitting up the local shopping mall, heading over to the convention for lunch to show our faces, then taking off home for the afternoon.

it was a good day ;).

CONVENTION FALSE INFORMATION - STOP IT BROTHERS!

we are always urged to "make sure of all things", namely, that anything we preach or teach is verifiable and true.

especially when we are referring to the bible.. at our convention, two things which came from the platform made me cringe, especially as one of the statements came from a regular and experienced convention speaker.

first; "over a quarter of a million new brothers and sisters were baptized last year - doesn't this show love on jehovah's part that he is allowing time for such ones to get to know him".

Hi Searcher, thanks for explaining this. I think a lot of people just ignore most of the program they hear from the platform, between what they don’t understand and what they don’t agree with.

Numbers 26:10 suggest Korah was struck with fire from heaven with the rest of the assembly but Numbers 16:33 says they went down alive to Sheol.

About the new scrolls, I think I read it somewhere, but I can’t find it in the Bible now, maybe it was in the Apocalypses book and I just took it for granted. Never liked that book, so didn’t go very deep into it. Probably the same for most people.

History of Disfellowshipping

i'm looking to compile a real history of how this heinous practice came into existance.. i've read the 1947 article condemning it and i believe knorr instituted it in 1952 when frustrated with a wife swapping ordeal at columbia heights.. can someone confirm?

Rutherford took over the WT by disfellowshiping the ones designed by Russell in his testament and anyone that didn't agree with him. He claimed to be one of the anointed, and it took him 12 years to get baptized.

Before him they were only Bible Students, I think the persecution from the clergy also started after he took over, and started writing articles against the Church.

I think the Bible can be used for supporting almost anything. It’s full of good and bad examples, you can learn from both, and don’t let anyone use it to manipulate you.
