The UK media disgusts me
by cedars inwe're at least 48 hours into the aftermath of the groundbreaking candace conti verdict, and as i wake up this morning i notice the news wires in america are alive with the story.
almost every major news website is running the article.
i notice there is also talk of a tv interview being broadcast.. however, when i search uk websites for "candace conti" i get this.... .

I honestly dont believe the "bf" was ever happy growing up as a jw. Told me once that I showed him that life could be fun doing the things that "normal" people do. I do believe this was truthful if a lot of what he hold me was not. Until I discovered he was a jw I thought he had had a very sheltered upbringing - maybe that makes me a bit thick!! but so much makes sense now. Never swore, smoked, gambled, going awol over xmas and the like - and now I can believe it when he said he had never even purchased a lottery ticket or scrach card in his life, bet or been to a concert. Its such a shame as he did seem genuinely happy for a while. Lately things have happened in his life which I am not privy to and he has sunk into a total pit of despair not speaking to anyone. Like banging my head against a brick wall with him. Giving him space he wanted, then encouragement and everything and is so sad as could have been brilliant but fear its not to be. Excuse yet more of my rantings but in a nut shell I think no he was not happy at all (maybe will divulge some more at a later date) for most of his life and as said before guilt got the better of him.

Elders Can Hide their Own Sins from the Past-Yet Continue as Elders? Read
by flipper ini was shocked ( though i probably shouldn't have been ) when reading the new elders manual concerning whether elders have to confess up about former sins from a few years earlier.
notice this on pg.
38 , paragraph 19 : it states, " if it comes to light or an appointed brother confesses that he has committed a disfellowshipping offense years in the past : the body of elders may determine he can continue to serve if the following is true : the immorality or other serious wrongdoing occured more than a few years ago, and he is genuinely repentant, recognizing that he should have come forward immediately when he sinned.

Makes me sooo angry! But for me its a learning curve!
End of the day he has actually done nothing wrong in the real world but in his world he has broken nearly every rule under the sun.
I feel like just grassing him up but what would that achieve!!??!! Except for making me feel better for about 10 seconds!!

So in the last few months if an elder had gambled, fornicated, smoked, been drunk, associated with "worldly people" and then pleaded his case he would be let off and I would be the one who had led him astray?? Taken the poor lamb down a path of wrong doing and even "made" him go into another church??
just letting off steam.....
