No kids, but if we did it would be up to them to choose if they want to be part of the cult. -

Family and money is involved. It’s complicated. That’s why we don’t leave the cult.

We have decent social circles outside the borg so it is all good. I think they are afraid people like us will corrupt the faithful. That is why they don’t want our kind(critical thinkers) to associate on a personal level with the indoctrinated.

Just not ready to quit yet for family reasons.
Yesterday in service my better half found out about a gathering we weren’t invited to. One of the sisters in the car group told her we aren’t invited to congregation functions because we don’t go to midweek meetings and don’t go in service enough.
This has been an unwritten rule forever but I am surprised someone finally said it.

Saskatoon, SK has amalgamated quite a few congregations the last few years. They sold at least one Kingdom Hall.

It already is. When you take your woman out for a nice dinner or that vacation in the tropics you’re buying it.

by solomon inall of the local congregations are going to use hourglass app for publishers to report their time.
i’m not sure if this meets privacy laws in our province.

are the witnesses now considered "clergy " ?
by lancelink inyears ago when i was a jw, one of their cornerstone teachings was that they were nothing like babylon the great.
i remember being taught that the witnesses not using any type of clergy class distinction was proof that they had the right religion.. well, recently we had this article in the local paper, and an elder who was no doubt the presiding overseer tried to use the clergy class excuse to get out of answering questions regarding a child abuse case.
here is the statement that really got to me.

I grew up poor and naive. I left home at 18 and like the good jw my momma raised started pioneering.
I could only hack it for about 2 years. I had trouble making my hours (90) in those days, was always sick because of a gruelling work schedule.
I wasn’t a subsidized pioneer like the ones with wealthy parents. I had to pay my own rent and buy my own car. I got tired of being made fun of because of the neighbourhood I lived in and the shitty car I drove.
A pretty dismal experience
