Jehovah cares for the poor
by road to nowhere inthe video for midweek.
walking 25 km, stay in a witness home and the topper, selling a chicken for money to feed 2 or 3 families.
all while wearing a tie..

That’s why they talk about Jehovah more than Jesus. Jesus actually fed the poor. Jehovah just killed anyone that pissed him off. Kinda like disfellowshipping, except you’re dead. -

What Did You Think Of The Songs Sung At The Kingdom Hall?
by minimus inwhen i was younger we had song books and i recall that some of the songs were pretty catchy.
then they revised it took some of those songs out, and added more.
i have to admit some songs were pretty good.

They definitely ruined the songs that we had as kids in the 60’s.
The problem with the watchtower in everything they do is how they define qualifications. An accomplished musician who is a low hour publisher would never be able to write a song for the organization. A bethel elder’s tone deaf wife who can’t carry a tune even if the bucket was provided for her would be their choice to write songs. This goes on and on. That’s why the organization is falling down around them and they can’t even see it.

I feel for all of the people in poorer countries. A lot of the financial problems people face are because of corrupt government.
In wealthier nations the leadership in the jw religion seems to want to keep its members poor. If you are striving to get ahead financially but miss meetings, field service or heaven forbid get a university degree you will be labeled spiritually weak.
The way the jw spiritual stratification system is set up costs a lot of time and money for the members that mentally accept it. To make “spiritual progress” in the organization one has to miss out on many opportunities in life. To pioneer, be an elder, attend international conventions, serve where the need is great all require sacrifices that this cowboy just isn’t willing to make. Ironically it was a working for a “worldly” corporation that woke me up to how organizations use up people. -

Why Is Nothing Being Done About Looters?
by minimus inlooting is happening everywhere like never before.
brazen thieves walk into stores and bring a bag with them and simply throw whatever they choose in the bag.
popular chain stores have closed in certain neighborhoods because it’s just not worth it.

The left will destroy itself. Eventually. As the previous posters mentioned the best is to avoid those areas if it is possible to do. Leftist ideology is to go soft on crime because a group is underprivileged. I’ve heard the complaints that there are no grocery stores in inner city neighborhoods. There is probably good reason as it is not profitable for the store to operate with rampant thievery. Stores close, marginalized people suffer more and the woke crowd lack the critical thinking ability to understand that their policies made the problem worse. The other problem with shoplifting is that confronting a shoplifter is a safety hazard if someone got hurt. There will be a lot of retail deserts where there are no businesses for miles as it just won’t be worth it to own a store. -

Does this look like the WT is going to be around a long time? One Watchtower @ One Awake for the public in 2022
by pistolpete ini keep hearing that the watchtower org is going to be around forever because of the many other religions that have been around a long time.
but i disagree because the wt is not like other religious cults.. the watchtower's breath of life is dependent on the last days that started in 1914. .
you can’t change 1914 without a death blow to the entire organization.. the watchtower's 2nd reason for staying alive, is it's continual urging that the life saving preaching work of warning people is the most important work ever.. but- it's very obvious to many, even the old ones that instead of speeding up the work------the work is slowing down to a drip.. comment by former believer; .

It looks like they don't have a writing dept anymore to write new material. And no money for research.
When you can’t afford volunteer labour that’s bad. They don’t even have to house or feed the writers. They can work from home.

As long as the power and money is there, there will be men who will strive to keep it alive.
That is a valid point. I worked for a failing company once. It should have gone broke 5 years before it did. The writing was on the wall. The only reason it drug out so long was because management was still getting a paycheck and surprisingly performance bonuses.

Canadian Residential School Deaths
by Simon inin case you haven't heard, they just discovered the remains of some 215 dead children at a so called canadian residential school.
they couldn't call it a death-camp could they ... it would be too obvious.. these were where indigenous children were taken, forcibly, in order to "educate" them out of their native customs and languages and make them integrate with society.. unbelievably, this was still going on in the 60s to 90s.. of course the catholic church has their sticky fingers all over it.
what is it about those creepy bastards?

Even the white kids hated going to the catholic boarding schools. The nuns were very abusive to the kids that went there. Many of them remained good Catholics and won’t talk bad of the church.
Hopefully this will give some the courage to speak up about how badly they were treated by the church as kids.
