Contributions For Local KH VS. World Wide Work
by turtleturtle inseriously, if i am going to stay a jw for now, is there anything wrong with donating all for local kindom hall purposes, and simply not donate to the world wide work (wt)?
i mean, won't the local money just go to the kingdom hall expenses (among some other expenses)?
i'm telling you right now, the wt ain't getting my $ until things change!.

Hello all,
Seriously, if I am going to stay a JW for now, is there anything wrong with donating ALL for local Kindom Hall purposes, and simply not donate to the World Wide Work (WT)? I mean, won't the local money just go to the Kingdom Hall expenses (among some other expenses)? I'm telling you right now, the WT ain't getting my $ until things change!
BTW, a while back I would donate around $500 bucks between both!!! Geez!

When it comes to credit cards, it's well established in the field of behavioral economics that people who use plastic are unconsciously willing to spend more than those who pay with cash, a phenomenon known as the "credit card premium." That's because there's an emotional pain associated with handing over hard currency that curbs spending, as opposed to mindless purchasing when forking over plastic.
It provides a lesson for even financially prudent people — just because you pay off your card balances every month to avoid finance charges doesn't mean credit cards aren't harming you. You might be overspending, simply because of the payment method you choose.
The new study adds to that research, suggesting another reason why people spend more with credit cards. It found that the intention to pay with either cash or credit can determine whether a consumer concentrates on a product's benefits or its cost — to the point they might choose different products when they know they will be paying with credit.

I agree with another poster. Dont stress. Dont fret. Take your time. During my awakening, the thing I have regreted most is getting too frustrated, angry or depressed. Try to see a licensed therapist so you can talk it out. Also, remind yourself that YOU CAN LEAVE. It is your decision. Even though the consequences may to BIG, tell yourself that you have the choice to leave.
Oh and DONT ever argue or pressure your wife. Just drop very small hints or share publication quotes.

The November 27 verdict says that “the applicants are 19 Armenian nationals who are Jehovah’s Witnesses. Having applied to the authorities to perform alternative labor service instead of military service on religious grounds under the 2004 Alternative Service Act, they were each assigned to perform the service in various institutions such as hospitals, nursing homes and dispensaries. In May and June 2005, they respectively informed those institutions that, since the alternative service was under the control of the military, they could not continue to serve in good conscience, and subsequently left their places of service. Placed in detention for several months following criminal proceedings brought against them for abandoning their service institutions – which had eventually been discontinued – 17 of the applicants complained that they had been detained for an act which had not constituted an offence at the time, in breach of Article 5 § 1 (right to liberty and security) of the European Convention on Human Rights. Further relying in particular on Article 5 § 5 (right to compensation for unlawful detention) they complained that they had been denied compensation for their unlawful detention.”
Tigran Harutyunyan, press secretary for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Armenia, told ArmeniaNow that his organization has filed two more lawsuits to the European Court [they haven’t been considered yet]. Those are group cases involving 16 Jehovah’s Witnesses. Three other Jehovah’s Witnesses had won their case at the European Court, which ruled in their favor, confirming their right to refuse army service on religious grounds.
“At the moment 31 Jehovah’s Witnesses are serving their terms in prison [for having refused alternative military service], 15 others have been convicted but have not been sent to prison yet, as the verdict has been appealed,” says Harutyunyan.
The field is still regulated by the law on “Alternative Military Service” that came into force in 2004. The defense ministry however drafted a bill of amendments last year considering a number of controversial issues. The parliament has not discussed the draft law yet. -

LONDON (WTVR) – Striking new MRI images show that for twins, sibling rivalry starts early–even before birth. Researchers in London were trying to find out more about a rare blood disease that can complicate the pregnancies for women carrying twins, when they captured video of what appears to be two fetuses pushing each other as they try to make more room.
Researchers at London’s Center for Fetal Care were studying a potentially deadly condition called twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. It only occurs in identical twins, when the blood supply from one flows into the other. It can cause one twin to become much larger, leaving the smaller with health deficiencies.
The researchers say the study has provided unexpected insight into sibling relationships.

question: if the WT is wrong about physical people living on earth during the thousand years, then who are "those nations in the four corners of the earth, god and magog" & "the number of these is as the sand of the sea. And they advanced..."?

come off it. beards are not "bad". you can still go in service, comment, etc. Just prob not going to get appointed or used for microphones, etc.
also, what the heck are you talking about "suits and dresses are the only acceptable form".
haven't you seen indian/african JWs and their traditional garb. also, again, that is just the standard dress. nothing to say you cant comment, go in service (pretty sure), or attend meetings without suits/dress.
the other stuff you say i agree with.
im not defending jws, im just pointing out reality. some people on here get WAYYYY to carried away.
