  Telethon for WTC

  how beautiful the music combined with this all consuming collective grief we all feel in behalf of those who experienced tragedy on sept 11 in nyc.

  i am moved at the heart and feel the pain that is being expressed here tonight via television.

  humanity at it's highest level is being displayed through one another and the cries go up to heaven through the music and the words and the stories of the victims.

  Why are JWs scared of death?

  i have been thinking a lot lately about death.

  this is not surprising considering the turn of events on the 11th.. i have been re-awakened to the transient nature of human life and how it can go in the blink of an eye.

  as the bible says life is vanity and a striving for the wind.. with all of the talk about world war 3 and how dangerous this world has become, i have been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster this past week.. the fear of dying is a normal and basic emotion.

  The reason I was terrified of dying was their teaching of what kind of life a resurected one could look forward to!!I know others have mentioned this, but the thought of me or my husband dying and then when when resurected not being able to be together as husband and and wife along with our children didn't seem like a comforting hope at all.I couldn't stand picturing one or the other of us married to someone else raising the kids.Being punished because one of us had died? How sick!
  This was a tramitizing teaching that I could never come to grips with.As a result I was phobic about death in case this is what Jah required!
  I'm so glad to be free of that now.
  I don't have the answers about what happens after death, but I've accepted that it's out of my control.I just try to enjoy life and I'll deal with what comes later.

  ``Quality Time'' in Field Service: Fact or Fiction

  based on comments in various threads, it seems that many of you are acquainted with the various ``dodges'' jws use to strech out their field service time: foot-dragging, driving around on return visits from one far-flung end of the territory to the other, the skilful avoidance of contact with housholders, coffee breaks, etc.

  etc.. do you have any impression of how pervasive these time-wasting such practices are, and what proportion of the time reported by jws is actually bogus and not spent productively?

  or, put another way, how rare is is to encounter who just loves to go out and who uses his/her time efficiently from beginning to end?.

  Alot of these time wasting tactics were used in the congregations we belonged to over the years.
  I found that most of the witnesses were relieved to get into one of these car groups instead of the car of the local "service natzi." Every congregation I went to had at least one of those!

  Here's something we used to do on fridays to get in a long service day.We used to go to garage sales.
  We took turns offering magizines to the persons having the sales while the rest of the car group shopped.Then the person who gave the presentation would get to shop after their presentation which would take up more time.
  We had fun and found all kinds of neat stuff.Of course we had to take a break too!

  i am writing to ask for your help.

  as many of you may know of the recent trial of erica rodriguez where manuel beliz was convicted of child molestation.

  a new development has happened that in my opinion is absolutely outrageous.. the prosecuting attorney gary brueher has told erica today she is not welcome at the sentencing hearing.

  well it appears watchtower just blinked...... again.

  on 9-11-01 the official press release was criticized on many levels.

  it appears criticism came from several sources as the 9-16-01 version of the 9-11-01 press release had seven changes from the original.

  I also want to thank you for this post.It helps us to see even clearer that dealing with this in a Gulf War sort of way is not the answer.
  Yes we need to be firm but it needs to be directed at the true enemy.
  As it has already been mentioned, ground troops will be needed to acomplish this.

  I wonder if America is ready for this?They have become spoiled to wars depending mainly on technology.It obviously isn't enough.They have to risk their own to get to the bottom of this.

  it is also likely that the us is going to launch an all out offensive in the next 24-48 hrs.

  any predictions as to what will happen, consequences etc.

  Nice sentiments but trying to solve the problem by just responding with love would be like trying to hug a rattlesnake to make friends with it! You will get bit, that’s it’ nature!

  I don’t like war and death either but sometimes it’s necessary. We're in this situation because we’ve been too soft in the past.They weren't afraid to do this.

  As far as a prediction goes, I’m afraid this will be handled much like the most recent conflicts. Obviously from what’s happened, that’s not strong enough action. I hope I’m wrong and they deal with this in a way they will make anyone think twice before messing with this country again.

  I know many just want this problem to go away without further bloodshed but that’s just wishful thinking.

  That's why I don't really think they'll ever start preaching that message of doom.They risk going out of business if they do.
  The rest of the world won't be as gullible and forgiving as JW's.
  But like you pointed out,there's no telling what they'll end up doing.
