'Ya all are missing a big problem. The internet is largely still a western, 1'st world thing. Not as much exposure in other parts of the world. The WTBTS will push into other countries and thrive there, if allowed in. The local population will confuse them with run-of-the-mill Christianity, and that'll put a big ole' black mark on all of us Christians.

Wow... from all your stories I'm so glad that I never was nor never will be a JW. God bless you in your search. Just be a Christian. Anything beyond that is unnecessary.

Reasons for becoming a JW?
by Dubby ini'm curious about the reasons for becoming a jw.
if you were raised a jw, were you pressured into baptism?
if you weren't raised a jw, what were the deciding factors?

Wow, out of catholicism and into the witnesses.
No wonder things were so difficult.A simple faith in Christ is all it takes. Forget the rules. Understand why they're there, but don't hang your relationship with God on your ability to obey them perfectly. Paul was a murderer that happened to write half the NT. You think he 'earned' his way to heaven?

The Faithful and Discreet Slave
by George in<b>"who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?
46 it will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.
47 i tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

Gotta go with Frenchy on this one. Here's my validation: if Christ is not the master, then who's returning? God's always around, it's not necessary for him to return. Christ therefore can't be the servant.

What do I like best about the Bible? The fact that it's always around. Doesn't change, despite certain groups best attempts at redefining it.
I also like the Psalms, for their simple, honest, takes on life. Things like, 'Dear God, please kill all my enemies!' kinda makes me smile at the honesty after living in a country full of pandering and pc-talk.

What is truth?
by spectromize inah!
yes, that remark made by pilate after pilate had asked jesus wether he was a king.
( john 18:37-38 ).. how would you answer the question according to what we know from the bibles definition, and how the faithful and discreet slave have endeavored to give us spiritual food at the proper time?.

I think it's a purpose of the devil to try and make the truth more complicated than it is.
The truth is that the watchtower claimed prophecies which were clearly attached to specific dates and which didn't come true. The truth is that the Bible says not to fear a prophet whose words don't come to pass, their words aren't from God.
Therefore the society is not from God.
However, they claim to be. That's not just human error, that's gross hypocracy and blasphemy.
End of story. -

I agree with mgm. When cults try to set themselves up as 'the religious authority,' they have dumped on themselves, knowingly or unknowningly, the task of having to defend their statements for all time. How many people have went to their deaths because of the arrogance of a few who will never admit that they're just wrong?
