So, the Womens March ... What Is It For?
by Simon init seems like mobilizing after the election, which seems pointless.
i keep hearing demands for equal rights but don't understand what rights they are missing exactly.. normally a march is to show the support (and potential votes) for a cause, but ... votes for what?
... and the election happened already.. is anyone else confused?

Thoughts on African Americans and Slavery
by Simon inlet's start by saying that slavery is of course a terrible thing, one of the worst crimes imaginable, and that "slavery" rarely implies good treatment, anything noble or defensible.
nowadays, even god doesn't escape judgement from our enlightened views with passages about slavery in the bible usually glossed over because they are shameful.. but not all slavery was equal.. because of the media, movie industry, racial tensions in the us regularly shown on the news and our taught history, i think most people's knowledge and idea of slavery is that of the north atlantic slave trade where white people took africans to work in cotton fields.
this idea is probably also re-enforced because the largest group of descendents of slaves we see today are african americans (usually in the us or places they subsequently migrated to).. but it's incomplete.. it's only when you look into it more that you discover that there was much more to the slave trade than that, otherwise it would have been just called "the slave trade" and not "the north atlantic slave trade".. some 12.5 million slaves were taken from africa to the us with just under 11 million surviving the trip so it obviously took a terrible toll immediately, even before any maltreatment once they landed in the americas where conditions and treatment were truly awful.

I think many do not want to face the reality of the situation. Last week in a Starbucks two people in their 50's began talking about the holocaust, and the lasting impact that it has on the jewish community. I sat quietly ad listened from the table behind them. They kept speaking about this huge fear of another holocaust because everyone
They kept speaking about this huge fear of another holocaust and how something that happened in the 1940's still has such a huge impact on THEIR daily lives. They believe that the racist views that many had in the early 20th century still exist to this day and that AMERICA and EUROPE need to devote more monetary sources to the security of their nation.
I must admit I was very upset. Here we are 70+ years later and you are still acting as if you are disadvantaged? World governments came together and created / returned you to your country and continue to provide billions of dollars in aid and defense. The time has come to move on and realize that things that took place over half a century ago have no bearing on where you are at today - which I might add is a very nice situation.

I often have a similar reasoning in regards to what Jews experienced. Had it not been for he ill treatment received by the Jews in Europe they would have never been returned to their religious homeland. I am sure what happened to their forefathers during WWII is not seen as a positive experience but the end result is they now find themselves in protected position in their homeland

Would it be easier or accomplish anything if we all admitted that black people in the United States just make all of this stuff up. That they are not faced with bias any more than white Americans are. Would it make more sense if we all just accepted the fact that black people are not as a group treated any differently than anyone else in America and that since the Civil Rights era everything has been on an even playing field

Magnum u are correct however this was happe ing in Greensboro Nc in thw early 80s. Around 1980 to 82. It was bad. The circuit overseer who came to "fix" the situation was Brother Beda. There was also another C.O. that came with him as a direct order from the branch named sylvester bennet who is now a district overseer. He may be retired. It was awful, 4 white elders with 8 black servants that were servants for many years and they were ne er appointed

I never said 1 million so no need to exaggerate. The reason it is a ttpical post is because it is the type of thing that typically happens. There are also laws in some places about recording police. People who get there phones taken as well.
Honedtly if i had 13 recordings of officers pulling me over for no reason except to hardass me you probably would cone up with a reason to justify it.
You have a black member of he House of reps givong a speech before stating in DC he has been pulled over 7 times this year. I guess he is lying too. Thise damn blacks do nothing but lie and kill people I suppose
