The Holocaust - do we need to know?
by eyeslice inthis week in uk, there starts a new 6 week series to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of auschwitz.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/listings/programme.shtml?day=tuesday&service_id=4224&filename=20050111/20050111_2100_4224_37699_50.
personally, i do not like cinema films about the holocaust and, therefore, have never watched things like shindler's list or the pianist.

The Great Tribulation............When??
by ScoobySnax inapologies if this has been asked before, but.... when i was growing up into the fabulously handsome critter i am nowadays, i always remember talk of the great tribulation that would not only befall mankind but overtake this system of things in the near future.
in fact one of my earliest memories was standing in a queue that seemed to go on for miles (i was only 7) outside with my mum and aunt/cousins at a cinema to see starwars, so i reckon it must have been 1977 and listening to them talk of it.
anyway i digress, what and when exactly is the "great tribulation" according to jw beliefs.

"Brainwashing" does not exist
by logansrun inthe term "brainwashing" is sometimes thrown around this forum and i thought i'd briefly comment on it.
the idea that a group or person can actually make you think, act and feel in a certain way is highly dubious.
i'm not saying it's impossible, but i highly doubt that any ex-jws have ever experienced "brainwashing.

Is Islam a religion of Peace?
by Perry inhttp://answering-islam.org.uk/quran/themes/jihad_passages.html
the above link shows 164 verses in the koran that instructs the faithful to kill infidels.
in light of this, how can some still spout the mantra that this is a religion of peace and that it's only the "radical fringe" that are causing problems?

2004 Service Report - Analysis and trends for 2005
by truthseeker inby now, most of you will have seen the scanned images of the watchtower's service report for 2004. i do not have the feb 1st magazines, so i cannot speculate further on the reason for not issuing the report in the january 1st 2005 wt.
looking at the figures, there are some trends that should be considered very disturbing to the wt leadership.
although baptisms increased marginally by 3,571, the difference between the average number of publishers and the number of baptisms is eye-popping indeed.

Why didn't we help these women?
