'this case' refers to repeating the same holocaust stories for the last 60 years. people are not left with awareness of how easy it is to fall for totalitarism but with how poor the jews were and how evil the germans (which is true but getting old after 60 years).

for the size of their population jews have an unproportional influence in US and european politics, media and industry. indeed i few that as somewhat probelmatic as it allows them to violate international law in the middle east and overprotect their interests world wide.
also, there is a difference between trying to educate people about the danger of totaliarism and intolerance and the holocaust industry. The Wave by Morton Rhue was an example of an excellent book that does show joung people how easy and dangerous it is to fall for radical movements...way more educational than the usual holocaust stories.
stalin did not persecute jews...he more or less randomly killed 15 - 20 million.

absolutely terrible what happened ... but by now its primarily about money and getting sympathy for israel. had the victims not be jews but lets say arabs or 'only' russians, polish and gypsies no one would care about it more than about cambodia, rwanda, mao, stalin etc. Who hears about these attrocities?
it is good to fight against intolerance and hatred but in this case the purpose seems to be a different one.
apologies if this has been asked before, but.... when i was growing up into the fabulously handsome critter i am nowadays, i always remember talk of the great tribulation that would not only befall mankind but overtake this system of things in the near future.
in fact one of my earliest memories was standing in a queue that seemed to go on for miles (i was only 7) outside with my mum and aunt/cousins at a cinema to see starwars, so i reckon it must have been 1977 and listening to them talk of it.
anyway i digress, what and when exactly is the "great tribulation" according to jw beliefs.
the great tribulation will start in about 4 billion years when the sun has depleted its hydrogen reserves and will become a red giant engulfing the inner planets including earth! :-)

the term "brainwashing" is sometimes thrown around this forum and i thought i'd briefly comment on it.
the idea that a group or person can actually make you think, act and feel in a certain way is highly dubious.
i'm not saying it's impossible, but i highly doubt that any ex-jws have ever experienced "brainwashing.

i have to strongly disagree with some of your statements.
I never was a JW and cannot comment on whether it is appropriate to accuse them of brainwashing.
However humans are nothing more than machines. Highly complex with the ability to weigh and overlook the near future outcome of our decisions...but nevertheless nothing more than that.
Our decisions are caused by the genetic programming as well as the environmental stimuli we received throughout our lifetime.
Of course any individual can be said to be responsible for a certain action...but the same would then apply to animals.

in the middle ages islam was actually more liberal and modern than christianity.
By contrast, nominal or "so-called" Christians that have committed attrocities cannot be said to be orthodox since Christ advocated non-viloence and there is NOT ONE scripture in the New Testament that calls for violence... not one.
so what about the holy inquisition? or the attrocities commitied in south america by the church?
what jesus (if he existed) intended has little to do with actual christianity. The an eye for an eye mentality is predominant in especially the US (the by far most christian nation amoung the industrialized nations).

a) christianity will not cease to exist in the forseeable future. in a better future all religions will have disappeared including islam. but it will take a long time and might perhaps never happen.
b) the number of muslims killed in the past and present by christians far outweights the number of christians killed by muslims. the embargo against iraq alone killed over 500.000 muslims. the attrocities and human rights violations against the palestinians are an never ending source of hatred. if you say muslims have no reason to hate the west than you are not from this planet.
c) regarding your question...99% of muslims want to live in peace just as 99% of christians or buddists want to. only terrible conditions make it possible for the radical 1% to mobilize the masses. in the future, if conditions in the region improve, radical islam will become a irrelevant problem.

simple fact of the matter is that all religions are bullshit and used by the authorities to control the masses.
no matter how peaceful the original intention (if jesus actually existed he would rotate in his grave) religions are always used to bring people to fight against each other.
