Primordial soup can it be simulated?
by haujobbz ini was wondering has anyone been able to simulate how life started in the primordial soup.
someone told me it was tested by stanley miller and it couldnt be reproduced, is this correct or has anyone else proved this theory.
also the jws used this to prove this theory wrong in the creator that cares book but does that really prove it was wrong.

a) no this cannot be simulated in the lab yet. the conditions that generated high concentrations of important biomolecules have not been discovered. certain steps that most likely led to the formation of the first primitve cells can be simulated but not the whole series of necessary events.
b) this has little to nothing to do with evolution itself. evolution deals with the formation of new species and not with how the first cell formed. evolution is a fact and not questioned by any serious scientist.

if i had to answer this i suppose i would say im not sure which one i believe, i have always wondered why the universe is so huge and always wondered what its role is and how it affects us.. im always fascinated when i look up at the sky and think to myself i feel so small in such a huge universe a sought of cold isolated feeling is what i experience and then i think, i wonder why this planet came to support life after all it was supposedly all happened by chance.. dont get me wrong im no scientist but i think i need more convincing regarding evolution.. can anyone help regarding these questions

actually the odds are hard to calculate in this case but you are right the probability is certainly small.
still we know the differences between chimps and humans for instance...there is no need for a spirit to create this difference!
if you look at the development of all species it seems as if evolution does lead necessarily to more complex life forms.

started to develop from a common ancestor about 3 million years ago.

a) so far we know about 100 billion galaxies each having 100 billion stars
b) things don't have to be perfect! it is very possible that live developed also on mars as well as the jupiter moon europa. the first cells developed under environmental conditions that exist most likely on many developing planets.

the only really open question is how the first cells came into existence. as long as this question is not solved some may chose to believe God created them. however, since God had nothing to do with either the creation of galaxies nor solar systems or with the evolution of species it makes more sense to assume that also the first cells developed on their own without a guiding spirit.

you are talking about an eukaryotic cell. the first cells were without doubt prokaryotic (also shown by fossil evidence). these cells are by far less complex (no nucleus, no golgi, no vesicles, no classical chromosomes no ER etc.. the first cells on earth were most likely even far less complex than todays prokaryotes.
evidence for evolution comes from biochemistry, molecular biology, biogepgraphy, comparative anatomy, archeology and embryology.
if you want we can discuss details from any of these fields.
