I also showed this to my JW father and he said it sounded like "someone had an axe to grind." I love that man, but sometimes he's so thick skulled.

JW response to CNN article
by dubla ini just showed the (bill bowen) cnn article to my father(active jw), and he started defending the jws before he even finished reading it.
why are they always so averse to looking at possible flaws?
its frustrating to see them constantly defending the faith, blindly.

Thoughts about Depression and Anxiety
by flower inthis is mostly directed to others that were born/raised in the cult.
more specifically those raised in the cult who also suffered from severe depression and/or social anxiety disorder or any other mental illness (other than the normal probs that come with being in the borg).
sometimes i wonder if its just me that doesnt feel like a person now.

Hi Flower,
You aren't the only person that feels that way. I found this board because my shrink suggested I find a support group. Up until Feb of 2002, I was doing just fine, then out of the blue I had two panic attacks. The theory is the unresolved JW upbringing I had made me freak out, and I am married and have lifelong non-JW friends. I take 25mg of Zoloft everyday and write in a journal. I am not normal, and neither are most of us on this board. The important thing is getting to know yourself. If you need to talk, you can email me.
Peace,

Time To Pay Up...?
by Englishman ini can't believe how tardy i have been in making a contribution to the running of this site.
like the ever visiting guest who drinks all your wine, eats your steak and complains that there is no loo paper, i have posted here for over a year, whinged, whined and moaned and done absolutely nothing to support it financially.
what a wanker, eh?.

Is it natural to be with one person for a lifetime
by Leander ini've always wondered if there really is such thing as a paradise and a hope for eternal life would we be limited to interacting with only one person?
the point could be argued from several perspectives.
several scriptures would suggest that a man and woman once joined in marriage are to be tied only to each other indefinitely.

a thread of support for OZZIEPOST and MRS OZZIE
by Prisca indear fellow posters,.
ozziepost and his beautiful wife mrs ozzie are going through a very tough time right now, at the hands of the wts and its henchmen.
in the space of a few weeks, they have lost their children and other family members due to the unchristian attitudes and pharisaic dogmas, despite having tried to quietly fade away from the wts.

dear Ozzies,
It's hard to lose your family, as many of us know. Stay strong, and know that we are all thinking of you.
love,

Not just Aussies causing Immigration stir.........
by VioletAnai inhttp://bulletin.ninemsn.com.au/bulletin/eddesk.nsf/all/6446024d8dd451a3ca256baa00025cbf .
i see no problem in immigration..... they fear immigration because it is to blame for economic problems...hello!!!
!....there have always been and always will be economic problems due to the uneven distribution of wealth in the human society.

It's odd that this topic came up, as I am studying the Davis-Moore thesis in Sociology, a very basic thesis that says that uneven rewards are good, they reward people for doing hard work (i.e. brain surgeon) or that takes a lot of schooling, etc. The criticism for the thesis are highly paid celebs. You can't have it both ways! And yes, immigration IS a drain on the economy, and if you had to pay for someone else to live in your country when so many other people already here need the help, well, you might have a different perspective.

What kind of music do you listen to?
by Leander ini'm a music junkie, i like pretty much all types of music.
but in particular i would have to say jazz is my favorite, but not the watered down kenny g style of jazz.
i prefer the straight ahead, hard bop type of jazz.. lately i've been really getting into psychedelia rock.

Hendrix and Joplin
L7, Luscious Jackson, Liz Phair
The Cure, Depeche Mode, Dead Kennedys, Dead Milkmen...
Jim Croce (yes, I like cheese!)
and I was lucky enough to see Dave Zollo playing with Greg Brown at the Green Room in Iowa City on new years eve a year and a half ago.
System of A Down and Shakira - not singing in English.
That's an overview.
Peace!
