west st. paul police are looking for suspects who shot three holes into windows at a jehovah's witnesses hall last week.

people in the building heard shots about 8:30 p.m. wednesday and saw a midsize newer car with a rounded body speed away, west st. paul police chief terry cook said.

Houses, vehicles and other forms of private property are vandalized everyday.

This case boils down to two possible scenarios.

One- It was someone who most held a specific grudge against JW and got their rocks off by shooting out windows with a BB gun. A minor criminal offense, so obviously they held no intentions of doing severe damage.

or

Two- Like many other cases of vandalism played out by teens (Id be willing to wager that 90% of cases like this with a BB gun it is a minor or someone in their early-twenties) it was a random selection of a place to shoot. It just so happened to be a KH.

A few years ago in my hometown some kids took a joyride and shot out car windows and house windows on a few neighboring blocks, thinking it was cute. This could be the same situation here.

But, I have to agree with SUSCARRA, by the time this story is done playing out the JW writers will put a spin on it so it will be used as part of a program for a Convention that "despite being persecuted under gunfire, the JW press on with the Good News of the Kingdom"
That thought sickens me.

Request Help on Information Privacy

i dont know if anyone is a legal expert on this site, but i would like to request some assistance.. i da myself a few months ago, but i am certain that my old congregation maintains files on me.. for peace of mind to know that my name and all my records are removed from their sealed files and that i have absolutely nothing left there.

ive already disavowed any affiliation with jw, i just dont want them having paperwork or information about me at ready access.. especially considering from previous experiences ive learned how greedy, deceitful, and vindictive some can be.. how can i send a letter or make a request that all information in their congregation files with my name or information be removed?.

any help would be greatly appreciated.. .

Annoying little trolls aside (nytele).. kpax Im fairly certain there are laws in place to protect citizens and their information privacy. I seem to recall a post on this subject in a previous thread, I just wanted some help or legal directive if possible.

my judicial meeting took place on monday night.

i was a bit annoyed because the meeting centered on my private beliefs - things that i've already spoken to the elders about in the past many times before.

i don't think i handled myself as well as i wanted to, but i guess i did ok under the circumstances.

I can wholeheartedly relate to your experience.

I was baptized September 26th 1992 at the age of 12.
I disassociated myself November 17th 2001 at the age of 21.

So believe me, I know how it feels, we were of similar ages in both incidents.

Life does get better from here. You demonstrated the courage to stand up for your convictions and beliefs, and you are no longer in their clutches in any sense.

I suffered the most depressive years of my life the last 2 years as I wavered between inactive, trying to go back, and finally realized the WTS for the sham it is.

Life goes on from this point forward, and you will find yourself much happier that youve done something FOR YOURSELF.

Once again, CONGRATULATIONS.

Social Security and Jws

i am a severly disabled adult who receives disability benefits.. i understand sometime ago the watchtower said in one of its magazine(probably watchtower)that a smaller pertentage(sic)of jws claimed the dole in france(this was, i believe during the problems with the french government)as opposed to a higher pertentage(sic)of roman catholic etc etc claiming the dole.. in view of what paul says in one of his letter`he that doesn't work, shall not eat' should jws be claiming the dole if they truly follow the bible.

discuss.. i believe a social security system should provide for the disabled and pensioners.

(i don't think the present uk social security system will survive in its present form with accelerting(sic)costs etc etc)

Talking About Talks..

go on, be honest, how did you enjoy giving talks?.

I can relate Englishman.

As a male who was a "brother" that gave #2 and #4 talks very frequently, at the very least it did teach you to become more competent in public speaking.

While everything else about being a JW is bullsh1t, you can find the good in all things bad if you look hard enough.

Door to door field service enhances your ability to muster courage to speak to complete strangers, and to even debate with someone. I had to rationalize this in my last couple years as a JW before I developed the all around knowledge to walk away.

So if ANYTHING good came from being a JW and successfully getting out. It is being a better public speaker, more courageous in talking to strangers, and to be very skeptical in blindly believing what other people say, it makes you a stronger person.

"satan, ruler of darkness, giver of evil, destroyer of what is good and just, is not now, nor ever again will be, a part of this town of inglis," mayor carolyn risher says in a proclamation, which was issued on official town stationery.. risher said the events of september 11 inspired her to pursue the proclamation, which the town commission supports.. "it gave me the inspiration that these people need to be ready if something like this was to happen to the town of inglis.

I saw the report on CNN Headline News this afternoon, and the people in this town look like individuals who gather in one of those "faith-healer" circus tents.

Can this Mayor use this proclamation in advertising her reelection campaign?

"I successfully cast out an invisible being that no organized religion in man's history has been capable of defeating... all in saving some small town in Hickville USA yada yada yada."

Ill agree LB.

As a child, I was severely obese.

In fact, I believe the endless ridicule from other children is what motivated me to take up fitness and nutrition and to get in shape just to spite them.

Just to give you an idea, in grammar school I was about 5ft 5 and 220lbs, looking like I has swallowed an overinflated basketball. Now I am 6ft and 220lbs at 4% bodyfat.

WW, you are a beautiful person on the inside. Anyone who has been ridiculed for one reason or another knows the pain. Looks fade with age with anyone. Beauty is truly measured by your actions and personality.

Ignore shallow, indignant people. What goes around comes around, and in one way or another that same person mocking you will be persecuted later, and then appreciate how much it hurts.

It may also be of note that someone who gets off on insulting others often suffers an inferiority complex. And by degrading others subconsciously they feel better about themselves, convincing their psyche they are superior in some way.

Just my 2c, but as I said before... follow the troll advice. It works wonders.

Word of advice.

"You feed a troll by acknowledging it's existence and reacting harshly in response.. matters will only get worse."

I should know this, I learned from experience.

Scrolling past their asinine comments or just outright ignoring them works wonders man. If the troll's remarks are being ignored, they will not have a reason to bother posting, and lose interest in taking time to try to incite anger or pain.

Witnesses Just Tried to Have Me Arrested!!!!

well, i just got home and im piping madd.. im laughing about it as well though because i outsmarted them at their own game and got a rant off my chest.. heres what happened.

an acquaintance i used to go to the hall with.. who is also 3 years younger than me asked me for money about 6 months ago.. at the time, i loaned him $50 to get the tires on his car fixed.

in that time period, not only did he move out of his parents house to an undisclosed location because he decided to stop going to the kh.. but i also da myself in that time frame.. due to the fact he moved out, i havent been able to reach him.. i tried calling his parents home to discover his current location or at least to tell them if he contacts them, to be sure to have him reach me because he owes me money.. no response.
