Ahh yes, the rabid rantings of the delusional YouKnow.
Excellent source material for newbies. They can see for themselves how self-professed active JW's rationalize things.
as part of the sign of his presence, jesus said: "furthermore, brother will deliver brother over to death, and a father a child, and children will rise up against their parents and have them put to death.
until recently it was difficult to imagine how such a scenario might play itself out in fulfillment of christ's prophecy.
but, with the ongoing apostasy now accelerating, and the world's financial system rapidly crumbling, and rumors of war a part of daily life, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the stage is being set for jesus' words to become a horrifying reality.

did you ever pioneer in your congregation?
i was an aux.
pioneer 4 or 5 months a year when my seasonal job was over.
I auxiliary pioneered as a youth during the summer months because that was considered "reaching out" and the "spiritually mature" thing to do.
It was to be accepted by others and viewed as good association.
Ahh what a waste of time. Can I get my summers back please?
dead (resurrected ) or alive who would you choose?.
mood barometer: a little melancholy, but basically .
every once in a while i think of who i would like to meet.
Spend a day? Give me one minute. I would like to travel back in time and assassinate Charles Taze Russell as a young boy to prevent the Jehovah's Witness cult from ever being created.
apparently yesterday there were some misunderstandings and feelings were hurt and situations were brought way out of proportion.
(i must say when i popped online before i went to bed i was shocked and saddened at some of the stuff that happened.
i had an enjoyable day of shopping/cooking/dinner & a movie only to see some of my friends involved in a dispute that could have been easily avoided).
Would all those words fit on a Hallmark Card?
Play nice people!
<Of the happy to not be the one in an argument Class>
i was in washington at the time (i work for the govt) when the attack occurred.
i had a massive panic attack at first and then steeled myself and worked through the night as part of our emergency response team.. i was embarassed by my reaction.
did anyone else have a similar experience?
Did anyone else think that Sept 11 was Armageddon?
No. Not for one nanosecond.
Prior to 9/11, Americans were living in a self-imposed state of security in which they felt United States soil was invulnerable to attack. After all, it had not happened in 60 years, not since Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7th, 1941, so this generation had never experienced it.(myself included)
If a person took the time to study history and world events, it was a foregone conclusion that eventually something horrible was going to take place here on United States soil.
Granted, there were the bombings of the WTC in 93, and also the Oklahoma City bombing in 95, but at the time that was attributed to a few isolated madmen acting out of resentment of government (Tim McVeigh and Terry Nichols)
I am talking something on such a catastrophic scale. Israel had been enduring terrorist attacks on almost a daily basis for years. It was only a matter of time before that hatred filtered West to the US.
So no, I did not think for one moment it was Armaggedon. Anymore than I would have thought the 1991 Gulf War was the beginning of Armaggedon, or 50 years ago people thought World War II was Armaggedon. However, the Jehovah's Witnesses do not waste EVERY opportunity to incite the ranks and proclaim that the end is ever so near, as they did 50 years ago, as they did 10 years ago, as they did on 9/11, and as they do now.
edited to correct a mistake, I had WTC on my mind and Oklahoma's perpetrators, had to correct the mixup.
when i was 14 or so, my attention got directed to queen.
and i loved them.
i'd save my allowance to buy cd's, posters, books etc from them.
Greven-
Someone like StarCraft??
Apparently you thought the Zerg Overmind would make a good picture profile icon.
Cool.
when i was very young about 12 or 13 my brother [he's mad, not much older] sometimes used to do a cheeky magic trick during the watchtower[god, this was the most boring of them all, i think].
he used to put his hands by his side and miraculously the books on his lap would rise all by themselves [yeah, you guessed it ...morning glory], well it made me laugh my head off.
i bet people could see my shoulders bouncing up and down from the back row.
Wow, it is amusing to see that people from all over the world did the exact same things I did to pass time at the meetings.
One thing is for certain, Jehovah's Witnesses praise themselves for having a global brotherhood and unity... well I say ALL the meetings worldwide were equally boring!
I used to (in no particular order):
That is all I can think of for now, but I assure you there are many, many more. When you are desperate, you will find ANYTHING to pass the time. Such a shame in retrospect, that we were lowered to having to find such inane things to get by... what a waste of precious time.
would this forum make a good soap opera if it could pass on tv?.
sometimes the heated debates and gossips are just as interesting as those soap operas.
what roles would you attribute to certain posters?
Matty-
I absolutely LOVE that picture! It sure would have proved useful over a year ago when wading through YouKnow, FredHall, comforter, and Yadirf's BS.
...just to watch my aunt get married.
had you fooled there, huh?.
a few people who i know on the board know my family irl.
Your a brave one. Under no circumstances could I set foot in a Kingdumb Hall and be in a large crowd of Dumb Dubs.
It would induce nausea and vomiting immediately.

eugh.
i hate the idea of someone decided what i can and can't read.
In the wake of everything else going on in other threads on this board, I completely forgot about this one.
I do find merit in some of NeonMadman's comments. A retailer does reserve the right to sell or market whatever products they wish.
I however have a problem with the hypocrisy of their actions. For a retail store to impose it's religious beliefs on consumers is improper IMHO. To state "Christian" reasons for removing a product is also inappropriate. Especially if the administration of their "Christian" rationale is not evenly distributed.
So what is my recourse? I can choose to not support their business and do my shopping elsewhere, but I also have the right to comment on their two-faced practices.
Wal-Mart removes Maxim and other "racy" men's magazines while it leaves Seventeen and Cosmopolitan on the shelves. These magazines frequently have scantily clad women on the covers discussing sex, but then again I suppose this is acceptable by their "Christian" reasoning for dictating what magazines are acceptable to sell.
Firearms. I suppose it is Wal-Mart's Christian belief that everyone should own a gun also? You can't buy men's magazines at Wal-Mart, but you can buy Seventeen or Cosmopolitan with naked women on the front discussing sex or buy a rifle to blow someone's brain out.
Oh please.
