Thanks fremind! Billy did the new songs at all compare with that 'singing kingdom melodies' tape fiasco of the mid 90's? THAT was painful to listen to!! Funny how no sister got a solo :P but they were the only decent singers! -

Thanks TE!! I also asked you a few questions in another post of yours, if you have time.
I agree with the other advice others have given you, don't be pushy, just point out things occasionally. The worst part of this org is that it tears families apart. So hard to be patient tho!! I know, I almost went crazy!! Field service, ugh!! What I did was try to learn from householders during service, lol. It actually directed me to the religion I'm in now. You may not want a new religion, but use this time to keep your eyes and ears open to things around you. Not sure you still believe in God, but I fully believe he helped direct me where I needed to go for myself, just by things I came across on the way out.

Free mind, thanks for the update on the carts! Yes I'm sure they are looking back to their periods of history when they had the biggest growth percentages and trying to repeat what worked. It's a very different world now, tho. I've been curious about all the focus on their website...aren't they concerned that people who Google it, even sincerely trying to look for the official site, will see all the apostate sites listed on the same page?? I mean it's not like they can say in their literature, or on the street, 'be very careful to type the website name exactly as it appears here, or you will see lots of stuff we don't want you to see!!'
what percentage of door to door work has been cut back to stand by the carts, do you think?
And yes I had noticed the extreme dumbing down of their literature. One of my sons friends had magazines on her coffee table when I went to pick him up from a play date...a witness had been by. Everything was super simple, sugar coated, positive, childlike. Don't people get around to coming to the Sunday meeting and during the study see and hear the real version of it and say 'whoa!'
Freeminds, one more question for you!!! Sorry but it's been a few years since I've been keeping up, what is this joke about 'I guess we believe in the rapture now!' referring to?? And any other new doctrinal changed since 2010? I occasionally talk to my parents but they avoid any discussion of religion.
you said most people probably have doubts but say 'where else would we go?' I know most don't turn to another religion, but I did. A tradition liberal Christian one, and you CAN have that same good community feeling, but without the judgmentalism and all the bad stuff. I've found a second family for which im so thankful. Reading the New Testament during a particular convention instead of listening to an abrasive circuit overseer was the start of it. They're stuck in the Old Testament, not embracing true gratitude for Jesus' sacrifice for our complete redemption..but instead always worried about following the rules. Pharisees, at their hearts. During meetings when I was fading I had to constantly tap my foot just to keep from screaming. I like Ding's suggestions, above. I did those things, but it was still so hard. You need to get out. I have to go read your other posts to see if the wife is making progress! My husband came out of it, but it was easier, since he didn't grow up in it and had a family outside. His father, who was dying at the time, was a wonderful man who would have given his life for us and his grandkids. During this time we went to the DC and it was the dama that said 'no one can truly love you unless they also love Jehovah.' Blatant, hurtful lie. That one helped!
Sorry so long!! I hope you answer my questions!!

Critical Thinking from the Wife !!
by TTATTelder inthe other day i had a couple of drinks and went off on the gb (again), about how they are just posturing and have no clue.
i said if they knew what they were talking about we would already be in the new world, but we're not ..so they dont...the end.. well i got some push back as would be expected, but what surprised me was what she said a little later.
firstly she didn't pay attention to the public talk this past sunday and instead read an article in a watchtower on stress.

You asked if anyone ever questioned things like that when we were in. Yes, all the time. But the only time I actually had the courage to ask an elder was during my baptism questions. Because there was that space where the elder asked if I had any other questions. 1. I asked why there were such things as fleas and Mosquitos, why were they created to eat blood if blood was sacred? And 2. I had read about this flower in the rainforest that would mimic the smell of rotting flesh to attract pollinating flies. Why would God create something like this if there was never supposed to be death? I was given the usual stock answers that the flood messed everything up. Lol. Blame everything on the flood!!! -

Why So Many Young People Are Leaving The Watchtower
by Jeremy C ini have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.
last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.
one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

Feeling silly right now, of course many had written about fading out ahead of me, I didn't read all the posts until now! And it's been a long time since I've visited sites like this. Anyway, fading DOES work, but FYI, if you are incorporating a move into your fade, they now transfer your witness records as soon as they know what congregation area you are moving into, they don't wait for you to go and request your records transferred, something I wish I knew before. My father said too many people falling through the cracks the previous way. I came here today to 1. Find out what this new 'marking' thing is...I had heard it was replacing disfellowshipping, but after doing research, found out no, it's just another level of discipline :P. And 2. Any new society lines on the 1914 thing? since it's been over 100 years now. Tell me if you've heard anything, but I'm thinking it will take some time for their numerology excitement to die down and work up a new speil.
What is with this literature cart thing, by the way? I had noticed I haven't seen much door to door activity lately, but saw people with these carts in public places, but always when driving by, wasn't sure it was witness literature or the Assembly of God or something. It looks kind of crazy, kind of like 20's witness style.

Hi! New here but been out 4 1/2 years. I would like to offer a 5th option to Terry's list. The Fade Out. I was desperate for the best way to leave, and with my immediate family intact. Mission accomplished on that one, thank God. It was a very scary time going through it tho. Took about 2 years. You need to stop being active as a witness. If you are not thought of as an active witness, and it's been some time since you were active, and then you get caught celebrating Christmas or something, it doesn't have to be 'handled' and they leave you alone. Also, we moved during this time, which was helpful. I don't have a close relationship with my extended family any more and this does break my heart, but I wasn't disfellowshipped, so can speak or see them occasionally...and most importantly, my husband and kids left it too. It wasn't easy and I thought I might lose him at some points, but his eyes were opened to many things during this time, and tho we very fondly remember old witness friends, we have moved on. Good luck!!!
