Thank you k99 and floriferous. Really disgusting. The whole concept of 144,000 being taken literally is just mad. And what is it based on? Some people 'just knowing' they are going to heaven. What a mess their twisted doctrine has caused, when the TRUTH is so simple. It's funny we used to believe that 'the truth' was simple...it's actually so much MUCH more complicated than what we find when we read the bible with our own eyes.

The Fear mongering of this weeks WT study!

oh my word it is full of fear inducing tactics....doom and gloom outlooks.... anxiety inducing methods to develop absolute control over witnesses and cripple them in any attempt to think for themselves!.

(notice i am saying "themselves" rather than "ourselves"?!

i was deleted as the cobe after i let my adult child move back home and he admitted that he fornicated under my roof while my wife and i where away on a rbc project.

of course the elder mode in me kicked him out of the house.. the elders moved quickly to remove me because i was too involved in "theocractic activities", i had neglected my adult son.. i accepted this primarily because i didn't want to serve with a boe that did not want me.

i was devastated however because it was the only life i knew.

Helpmeout, the Internet may eventually cause change in the org. Corporations who have not found it profitable to be environmentally conscientious or who use veritable slave labor have been pressured to make changes to stay in business, simply because of media coverage and public awareness. maybe eventually the org will make changes too because it won't be profitable for them to be hard nosed about DF ing and gays etc....too much negative publicity, and we know how much they care about their public image.

The scared girl struck a cord with me, too. She's scared NOW truly, while taking that picture, because these freaks have told her her life will be in danger and they need to pretend it's happening now. I hate them. Nobody has any right to scare a little girl.

received revealing "witness" in parking lot

a few weeks ago i was working out of my home state and was in a grocery store parking lot when i received my first jw witness since leaving jwdom.

a youngish-looking lady was sitting in an suv parked next to my car and i was about to get in my car to leave.

she opened the door and asked whether she could give me something to read (had a tract in her hand)..

Salvation

now that the jw belief system excludes non-anointed from the new covenant.

there seems to be a giant hole in the issue of salvation for the majority of members.

can anyone explain this?

This practice of theirs of having double standards for salvation is absolutely disgusting. After reading the greek scriptures with an open mind I could not see how everyone who benefits from the sacrifice of Jesus would not partake. At my last memorial, I passed the emblems like everyone else and felt like a total piece of crap afterwards. I promised I would never reject the sacrifice of Jesus again, and have never gone to another memorial, but partake monthly at my new church. I will never, ever take it for granted.
