I Haven't Missed a Meeting in Years!
by Oubliette ini recently ran into a jw i knew from a few years back.you know how it goes, a few pleasantries that always seem much more awkward than they really should (not for me, mind you--for him).and then the question, "so what congregation are you attending?
are you able to make the meetings?
"i'm thinking: do you always start conversations this way?so anyways, knowing full well the jw-mindset, i decided to have a bit of fun.furrowing my brow, i said, "that's an odd question!

Memorial Question?
by naazira inover the years, i've come to notice that some of the friends will not touch the plate with the bread or the cup of wine ,when the emblems are being passed around.
i remember a row of 3 people told the brother to skip over them.
every year i have noticed this behavior.

It was avoiding another ludicrous memorial that got me to take action to change my religion. I swore to myself I would never pass the emblems without partaking again. I was a believer in what Christ did for people, including myself, and felt that it was rejection of him to not partake.
To your original question, I'm pretty sure they just wanted to save the usher some time. It took so long to pass those things around to everyone with usually nobody partaking. What was the point?? Just skip a few rows at a time. On the other hand, getting to touch the plate and glass when I was young was one of the few thrills of being at the KH. Pathetic :/.

Are Parents Who Shun Their Children At Risk?
by Englishman inwho looks after the welfare of ageing witness parents who have disfellowshipped children?
are these df'd children (actually, some of these df'd children are in their 60's) meant to ignore being ignored and then care physically for their non speaking parents?
also, can df'ing your own children lead to witness parents suffering illness or even death as a result?.

Lyin- someday maybe your fathers third daughter will leave the religion too. There's a good chance of that. Maybe that will wake your father up. At least if that happens you can have another sister and hopefully won't blame her for your fathers favoritism. He really sucks and you deserve better.
We all deserve better. we deserve parents who love us unconditionally. I wrote my mother recently a text, 'I love you' she wrote back 'thank you.'

Who leaves first, the husband or wife?
by snugglebunny inwhen it comes to a simple matter of no longer believing the teachings of jw's, it appears to me that it's more common for the husband to make the first move to leave the religion.

I don't think women become 'more productive'when multitasking (who does??).but I think we handle multitasking better than men do. If I tell my husband to do more than one thing at a time his brain practically visibly starts overheating. i can remember to pick up different children from different activities all in a row, he can not. he is a terrible driver while talking on the phone. Actually, all men I've seen are terrible drivers while talking on the phone. Women not so bad. Not that I support that in either case. -

I was out mentally before my husband. Now we are both physically out.
My sister is in mentally but her husband is out mentally. They are both in as far as I know.

Pick your belief system
by Giordano ini think we've all noticed a ton of newbe's these past months.
one part of escaping or thinking about escaping the jw's is coming to terms with what you believe now and/or what direction you are leaning towards.. here is a site that has a quick quiz that may be of some worth or just for fun.
i took it when i first signed on here and the results surprised me because it was pretty accurate.. you don't have to sign up for anything and when you finish you will get a percentage answer on 20 major belief systems.

shunniversary
by Question_Mans_interpretation inas of the first week of february i had my one year shunniversary and i'm just now getting around to commemorating it and what better way to do that than share my story here.. im a fourth generation jdub.
my greatgrandparents learned the "truth" on their farm back east somewhere and now here i am with a whole lot of jw indoctrination and a huge jw family.. i first began to wake up in november 2011 when the two part series came out in the watchtower on the discrepancy of the destruction of jerusalem dates.
my husband, bless him, had said to me a couple months prior that he wanted to start taking a closer look at the 1914 doctrine because some of the dating calculations didn't seem right ( he's a total numbers guy and is extremely good at math) so when these two part articles came out the timing was just amazing and helped us to start seeing the holes in the societies reasoning.

Qmi, yeah I could hardly believe how open minded people are at church. It's funny how witnesses are so terrified of losing their 'unity' if people have different viewpoints...when there are so many different viewpoints inside my mainline Protestant church whose history goes back hundreds of years. It was actually shocking to me to see how people believe differently about evolution, gay preachers and weddings, types of music, women preachers..and we get along really well despite that!
im really sorry you lost your family even when trying not to :(. It sounds like you lost everyone but your husband. this religion sucks.

Has anybody got a copy of the older New World Translation ? (pre : the new simplified version ?)
by ukgirl inhey so i'm currently doing a uni project and making a film exploring my leaving of the witnesses.
i wanted to begin with an intro where i revisit the genesis account of god creating the heavens and the earth.
i remember it to be quite visually descriptive, so i wanted to take the account and illustrate it myself with narration over the top.

How many of you still believe in God or are still Christians?
by JWCartPusher inhello, i asked a new but old friend how many people are still christians after leaving the watchtower's mind control agency, for statistical purposes do you mind if i do a survey and see how many of you are believers?.
please don't post if your not a believer out of respect for this poll, we need to sharpen each other's sword and help build each other up and meet new friends over the internet with faith in god or some other force of the universe.
i asked another person how we can still manage our faith after getting burned by the high group mind control, he had a few ideas but he's not really involved with god because of how life burned him.

Cart pusher, I'm not sure what you're after...you want us to tell you where we stand, unless we're atheist? How is that a poll...
anyway, mark one for Christian here.
james, that was beautiful and I get you.
