The blood doctrine is the first time I admitted to myself that the society was wrong about something. Saying it aloud took many years to be able to do, but I had considered it deeply in my late teens, and in my late thirties finally said out loud, 'no, I couldn't follow this. I couldn't let my daughter die', which was a big first step in turning away. After that first time, the other honest disagreements I had with doctrine and witness tradition were easier to admit to.

The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

The Lords Evening Meal: Partaking and Awakening

it was a hall i don't usually go to but chose to go there because i felt like it would be the closest.
mind you i am not a jw and was never raised a jw and don't have any family who are jw.

Gen me, you are a brave soul!! Someday I hope to be like you and not constantly worry what people think of me and worry about getting their approval! Last memorial I went to, I was still technically a witness, but fading, and did not have the courage to partake, even though I knew it was wrong not to. I felt like crap afterwards. I promised myself I would never reject Jesus' sacrifice again, so I haven't been to a witness memorial since (but partake regularly at church). You are amazing and gave a great witness (though surely people were all calling you 'crazy' and 'weird'), you made a strong impression on this person about to decide to go the wrong way. -

Actually I think the blood issue is one of the best places to start. 1. It murders people 2. The evidence for witness policy is lacking 3. Witness policy has changed in recent years re: blood fractions 4. Most witnesses can be made to reason that blood fractions ARE blood and there's no difference. 4. The strange thing to me is, 'evidently' is a word used when there is evidence. They use the word 'evidently' whenever there is absolutely NO evidence of what they are trying to prove, but it is based on pure speculation. -

I had every intention of going to the Memorial last night.......
by dubstepped ini wanted to go and to do it for jehovah and jesus and what they've done for me.
i wanted it to be a personal thing between them and i. i haven't been to a meeting in close to a year, not that anyone notices or cares.
this isn't my first stint away, and nobody would notice or care if i was found dead.

Dub, I hope you will go try Easter this Sunday at a church. You want to show God that you appreciate what he has done for you. The first way is being kind to others, treating them as Jesus would. the second is to worship. So give it a shot and see what happens. Most churches are pretty full on Easter and probably won't notice an extra visitor, you can be pretty incognito. -

Jonathan, they are hypnotized! That's a perfect way to describe it.
garrett...this conversation was important, you needed to know. And things you say could have longer term effects than you realize. It takes time for witnesses to process certain thoughts contrary to their brainwashing. She may be more alert now to things she hears.

Memorial talk wt escape clause

this phrase switches from the forgiveness of sin part to the exclusive anointed club section of the memorial talk, and it is false because: the kingdom covenant was done after the passover was done.
and the promise of thrones and judging israel in math 19:28 was not a covenant but an assurance.

New day I haven't studied the symbolic 144,000 deeply, but from reading revelation, it sounds like they are Jews. I do believe that people go to heaven to be with Jesus, and someday, ultimately they will live on earth again. It says 'the tent of God will be with them'. I don't speculate on what exactly this means, but it is part of most Christian theologies that the righteous will eventually live on earth...which I only learned after going to church for a while. Personally I don't think much about the afterlife, I try to live life right now. -

Churches go WAY more out on Jesus death then JW's ever did during this week!
by EndofMysteries inmy significant others church, what do they do on the week of christs death?
sunday service all based on jesus death, big 50 person choir, performances, etc.
last night some special service, they have a sit down passover w/ the bread and wine, then 24 hours it's open w/ special places for anybody any time of night to come and pray if they want.

Yep, it's a big deal in most Christian churches. Actually it starts with Lent and it's forty days of meditating on what Jesus did for us and then the huge celebration of his resurrection at Easter. Yup, growing up witness I had no idea!! Thought it was mostly eggs and bunnies. Actually I don't think its a coincidence that Jesus died and was resurrected in the spring. It's all about hope and joy and life.
But witnesses are quite full of themselves to think their bizarre little ritual is so amazing.

I've been in halls where real witnesses partook, but the elders decided not to count it, because they thought the person was too young (40!) or too crazy. So, I wonder how many are ACTUALLY partaking.
