Life After the Being Separate from the World
by yodastar inrealised that after leaving many years ago i don't have much of a social circle!!
has anyone else realised that we were not taught to be good in social circles except those that were approved associates?.
i recently went to a birthday party of a 45 year old guy and thought wow - this is what it is like to have formed a healthy social circle.

How about hearing that all worldly people will be destroyed and picked apart by carnivorous birds because they aren't witnesses, and going to school the next day and sitting in class and thinking about all the other children around you and imagining that happening to them :/. It screws with your head, it makes you weird and socially awkward to say the least. -

The Lords Evening Meal: Partaking and Awakening
by Generation Me inso i chose to attend the memorial last night.
it was a hall i don't usually go to but chose to go there because i felt like it would be the closest.
mind you i am not a jw and was never raised a jw and don't have any family who are jw.

Crazyguy probably finds it hard to believe that you were THAT gutsy, and that lucky, to talk to a study as well.

The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

Omg oubli, do their parents know they are being taught science by an EX witness? SCIENCE? Lol.
I love that you are focusing on evidence in class with them.

The blood doctrine is the first time I admitted to myself that the society was wrong about something. Saying it aloud took many years to be able to do, but I had considered it deeply in my late teens, and in my late thirties finally said out loud, 'no, I couldn't follow this. I couldn't let my daughter die', which was a big first step in turning away. After that first time, the other honest disagreements I had with doctrine and witness tradition were easier to admit to. -

Gen me, you are a brave soul!! Someday I hope to be like you and not constantly worry what people think of me and worry about getting their approval! Last memorial I went to, I was still technically a witness, but fading, and did not have the courage to partake, even though I knew it was wrong not to. I felt like crap afterwards. I promised myself I would never reject Jesus' sacrifice again, so I haven't been to a witness memorial since (but partake regularly at church). You are amazing and gave a great witness (though surely people were all calling you 'crazy' and 'weird'), you made a strong impression on this person about to decide to go the wrong way. -

Actually I think the blood issue is one of the best places to start. 1. It murders people 2. The evidence for witness policy is lacking 3. Witness policy has changed in recent years re: blood fractions 4. Most witnesses can be made to reason that blood fractions ARE blood and there's no difference. 4. Using blood fractions is USING blood -

The strange thing to me is, 'evidently' is a word used when there is evidence. They use the word 'evidently' whenever there is absolutely NO evidence of what they are trying to prove, but it is based on pure speculation.
