Endure! Life is hard! Lost? We are Miserable ? Don't think so
by ducatijoe inits a rainy day and have been reading posts.. i would like to respond to the comments of those still in, post to those who have decided to leave.. what ever you have been told or may think about what will happen without "the truth" , is not true.
my life without the wbts is fantastic.
no stress, live in a beautiful place, great new friends and total peace of mind.

I have to say that from what I've seen, it's the people who have left that are more successful, stable, and happy. It probably depends on personalities. But it seems the ones who have stayed are a mess, constantly fighting against their natural selves and the direction they should have taken in life, which makes a person miserable. -

Many christian faiths have an EARTHLY resurrection belief.....
by EndofMysteries ini was surprised to learn many other mainstream christian religions believe in a physical earthly resurrection.
even catholics.
it seems the belief is that as of now one goes to heaven to wait, then in the future will have an earthly resurrection.

Many Protestant denominations believe in an eventual 'new earth', and that when you die your soul goes to heaven, but eventually there will be a physical resurrection and earth would be restored and Jesus would actually reside with his people on this earth. They don't talk and speculate about it much, it is a hope for an uncertain time in the future. -

"There will be raspberries falling from the sky"
by stuckinarut2 inaccording to these authentic holy verses, you too can share in the assured joy of sweet raspberries from the sky:.
"i tell you truthfully, there were raspberries in an abundance that fell from the sky, bringing great happiness to all those on earth".
from the book of stuckinarut2 4:7. but how can you believe this authoritative verse?.

is this still a belief? no 'marraige' after being resurected?
by sowhatnow ini was having a discussion with my sister yesterday, and she said to me,'mom told me that if dad dies at armageddon, she cant get remarried in the new system' .
i told he i have never heard such a thing, but i do recall that it was believed that anyone who dies now, cannot be married in the 'new world' because they are to be as angels in heaven.. she said , so why be resurrected if yiu cant live your dream of having a loving mate and perfect children?
god is still dictating to you how you will live.

Earthquake!.. and JW superstition.
by apocalypse inwhile in service on saturday, i was sitting with an elder that i have known for years having a coffee break.
we were discussing the up-coming convention and what we had to do etc.
then, (there was a tv up on the wall in the coffee place where we were) on the screen burst the news of the nepal earthquake.

Yep. I was at a gathering about 7 years ago, at the beginning of the economic recession in the USA. A young ministerial servant said 'things are getting WORSE! Isn't it EXCITING??' With a crazed expression in his eyes.

The shift: from follower to wanting to leave
by paradisebeauty inthis week has been the week when my whole way of thinking shifted.
i still cannot believe how this can happen so fast.
over a period of seven days i went from not even imagining that i could ever not be a witness to wanting to get out of this organisation.. .

Went to a Catholic Funeral Today
by Captain Schmideo2 init was for a dear friend of the family that i have known all my life.now, bear in mind that i was born and raised jw, so my experience with catholic ceremonies can be counted on three fingers, a wedding, a "regular" mass, and this funeral mass.once they got down to the actual speaking about the deceased, i felt emotionally involved, but prior to that, i was watching and had questions about aspects of the services (these i have seen in common for all three times i have been in an rc church):why the "sing-song" voice during the prayers?
does god hear it better if you sound all spooky tenor?i observe that every time a reading from one of the gospels takes place, it is preceded by a big musical number:"alleluiah!
alleluiah"( "and nowwwwwwwwwwwwwww, heeeeeeeeeeeeeere's jesus!".

I've been to catholic funerals, many of them, and some are really good. It depends on whether the person was known by the priest or not.
My church isn't catholic, but the funerals are so personal, with friends and family members getting up to speak about memories or character of the person. I help at every funeral held at church, they are all good and meaningful.
It's always made me sad how impersonal witness memorials are. At most a couple of sentences about the deceased. That's all they get then it's a commercial for their religion. I hate that my parents will be treated the same. It's going to drive me nuts.

When will JW.ORG appear on convention name tags?
by kairos ini have not seen the logo on a name tag, yet.. will this year be the first time jws are encouraged to walk around advertising a web site?.

It's inevitable. Probably next year. The real question is when will all witnesses have it tattooed on their foreheads.

Couldn't stomach the whole thing, but seriously, this stuff is just common courtesy that witnesses apparently naturally lack due to their theocratic zeal :P. and boy, do I NOT miss that sanctimonious, rule based, talking down to me tone all the time...no matter if there are cartoons now, it still sounds the same.

Are you Thick Skin?
by James Mixon intick skin "the ability to withstand criticism and show no signs of any.
criticism you may receive getting to you".
did you have a thin skin when.

Criticism hurts a lot. I always wanted to be as good and perfect as people expected of me. But I think this is getting better as I am getting older, I am realizing what other people think of me doesn't matter very much.
