Do leave it behind. Do your best in school. If you never get baptized you can escape when you are a little older. Be careful if you date. Don't let people see you. -

The Divine Name in the NT: Some Reflections
by Let go of fear ini've been fascinated with this topic for some time now, almost to the point of obsession.
after researching the issue for several years, i have come to a conclusion/theory that i would love to receive some feedback on.
this theory of mine is one that will be somewhat unsettling to both those who believe the divine name was used in the original nt scripts as well as those who believe it wasn't.

Jan that is what I found too...the NWT is very close to other translations EXCEPT where the role of Jesus is concerned. It was a very deliberate attempt to skew people's understanding of him, always to make him appear less prominent, less important, less God, than he is in the original Greek. It struck me as something almost demonic.
Lgof, the HCSB uses Yahweh in the OT 485 times (wikipedia!). I checked out the NT, and no, when it is quoting the OT there is no all caps 'LORD', however, whenever the NT quotes the OT, the complete quote is in bold print, so it is easy to tell the lord is referring to YHWH. This is something that really bothers me about the NWT, because there are many passages where the original text says 'lord' but is not quoting from the OT, and the NWT actually chooses to insert Jehovah wherever it WANTS to, which is a blatant changing of the Bible, and this is another way they found to minimize the roll of Jesus. Disgusting.

My Last thoughts in Field Service Before the Elderly Man Shat Himself and Pissed his pants in My New Car!
by PokerPlayerPhil indebating this was going to be the last day in field service was not hard after dealing with a nasty mess because i was grouped with the misfits of the kingdom hall!
i was reading this website on my phone while something started to stink in my car and one of the weird kids nobody wanted to work with yelled "hey, you leaking all over my seat, he was freaked out too!
" the older, retired elder, his pioneer daughter had forgotten to put his depends on and that became my problem.

I don't believe that Jesus is Yahweh either. Yahweh is the father.
But moving right along, you might try the Holman Christian standard bible, which often uses Yahweh in the Old Testament, especially when God's NAME features prominently in the scripture. Here is a quote from the introduction:
the HCSB OT uses Yahweh, the personal name of God in Hebrew, when a biblical text emphasizes Yahweh as a name: "His name is Yahweh" (Ps 68:4). Yahweh is also used in places of His self identification as in "I am Yahweh" (Is 42:8). Yahweh is used more often in the HCSB than in most Bible translations because the word LORD in English is a title of God and does not accurately convey to modern readers the emphasis on God's personal name in the original Hebrew.
(and this is why I bought a copy of the HCSB for myself). It probably has the name Yahweh hundreds of times as opposed to thousands, and never in the NT, since there is no solid evidence it should be there.
For a study version though I like the NKJV Nelson's Study Bible.

A sweet and elegant necklace is a good choice. If she is the mother of your children, maybe a heart that says 'mom' (avoid tacky tho, there's lots of tacky ones). -

I always felt so bad when bringing a small baby in a car seat out on return visits. Mind you, return visits were always better service than the dreaded door to door. But not for babies. Babies can't stand it. They last for a little while and then can't understand why mom is sitting next to them but not picking them up. This pretty soon leads to them screaming their little heads off. I would always desperately want to pick up the baby and nurse them or hold them or whatever they needed, but that would be irresponsible and illegal, and always felt so terrible for the rest of the car group, having to listen to bloody murder.
Glad those days are over!

Lgof, I don't want to argue the trinity either, but it is something that I studied very deeply when I was fading. people who otherwise have problems with jw's seem to hang on to being anti trinity. I have discovered how the witnesses changed their bible from the greek to 'prove' what they wanted to believe. I completely agree with jan. The trinity teaches that the father and the son are completely different persons. I don't think you ever gave this subject the attention it deserves. Do I believe that Jesus is God? Yes. Do I believe the father is God? Yes, and he is given more respect, as a father naturally receives. Do I believe the Holy Spirit is God? Not quite, but he is linked with the father and son very often. He is the only one of we speak against, that is an unforgiveable sin. I don't believe it is offensive to link him very closely to God. I do not think of myself as a strict trinitarian, but I believe the trinity comes closer to the truth than the witnesses interpretation. Study into it using your kingdom interlinear and a multitude of websites on the subject. Having been a catholic and evangelical once is not enough. It takes time to study but the evidence has helped me move on from the deceptions of the WT.

The present Governing Body will rule the U.S.A.
by John Aquila ini havent gone to meetings in about 1 year and a half.
one of my neighbors who is a jw-lady told me that the co on the last visit said that its very likely that right after armageddon (which is just around the corner) the present governing body members will be in charge of the united states since they are familiar with the culture.
and that the apostles and early christians will be in charge of areas like china.
