"The organisation is imperfect, but it doesn't affect my relationship with Jehovah"
by Alive! ini've noted active, devoted jw's state the above.. and, it's not a problem for me to remain trusting of god, i just don't trust religions or men.. recently, a member of this forum stated that he remains an active jw, in the family of god's people, wanting to encourage and do good - whilst recognising that the pastoral leaders (the gb) have shipwrecked the faith of many, being unsound scripturally etc, etc.. stop and think about this - the bible says to not follow after those who lie and hurt the faith of "little ones".. the pharisees were accused of traversing over lands and expending much energy to make a single convert - only for that convert to end up worse of than he started off with.. it's one thing to not believe this is the 'truth' and feeling the awful pressure of managing ones life, trying not to lose ones family.. it's quite another thing to declare oneself to be a christian believer of god's jw household, and somehow believe the god of love would use corrupt liars to parade as jesus' brothers in the urgency of last days.
really?
and, to then visibly promote faith in corrupt men, and try to bring converts into a place where the rulership is wrong.. some of us are dying from hurt here.......give me a break..

You are interpreting that scripture to mean just Jehovah's witnesses as the flock. Actually jesus was talking to ALL followers of him, and warning them against false prophets coming in amongst them. And guess what, Russell was one of the false prophets he warned against. -

Alive! Don't feel bad or stupid or down on yourself. You are stronger and smarter than most. That is nothing to feel bad about!! Yes you believed it for a while, but these guys are master manipulators. Look how many people haven't woken up, but you have. Love yourself, and live.

People who cling to the 'idea' of the witnesses but admit that the GB is misguided or 'imperfect' may really just be sentimental and are trying to still make it work for themselves without moving on with their lives. They are stuck in their own living state of Limbo, always wishing for the way things used to be...instead of moving on and researching completely the tangled web of witness beliefs.
also theyve been taught there's nowhere else to go.

Do leave it behind. Do your best in school. If you never get baptized you can escape when you are a little older. Be careful if you date. Don't let people see you. -

The Divine Name in the NT: Some Reflections
by Let go of fear ini've been fascinated with this topic for some time now, almost to the point of obsession.
after researching the issue for several years, i have come to a conclusion/theory that i would love to receive some feedback on.
this theory of mine is one that will be somewhat unsettling to both those who believe the divine name was used in the original nt scripts as well as those who believe it wasn't.

Jan that is what I found too...the NWT is very close to other translations EXCEPT where the role of Jesus is concerned. It was a very deliberate attempt to skew people's understanding of him, always to make him appear less prominent, less important, less God, than he is in the original Greek. It struck me as something almost demonic.
Lgof, the HCSB uses Yahweh in the OT 485 times (wikipedia!). I checked out the NT, and no, when it is quoting the OT there is no all caps 'LORD', however, whenever the NT quotes the OT, the complete quote is in bold print, so it is easy to tell the lord is referring to YHWH. This is something that really bothers me about the NWT, because there are many passages where the original text says 'lord' but is not quoting from the OT, and the NWT actually chooses to insert Jehovah wherever it WANTS to, which is a blatant changing of the Bible, and this is another way they found to minimize the roll of Jesus. Disgusting.

My Last thoughts in Field Service Before the Elderly Man Shat Himself and Pissed his pants in My New Car!
by PokerPlayerPhil indebating this was going to be the last day in field service was not hard after dealing with a nasty mess because i was grouped with the misfits of the kingdom hall!
i was reading this website on my phone while something started to stink in my car and one of the weird kids nobody wanted to work with yelled "hey, you leaking all over my seat, he was freaked out too!
" the older, retired elder, his pioneer daughter had forgotten to put his depends on and that became my problem.

Ties at the Kingdom Hall
by CloseTheDoor incouple of weeks ago an elder took a young man aside and crawled all over him after the tms for wearing a "skinny" tie.
it was one of those 2 inch wide ties.
nothing bright or scandalous about.

I don't believe that Jesus is Yahweh either. Yahweh is the father.
But moving right along, you might try the Holman Christian standard bible, which often uses Yahweh in the Old Testament, especially when God's NAME features prominently in the scripture. Here is a quote from the introduction:
the HCSB OT uses Yahweh, the personal name of God in Hebrew, when a biblical text emphasizes Yahweh as a name: "His name is Yahweh" (Ps 68:4). Yahweh is also used in places of His self identification as in "I am Yahweh" (Is 42:8). Yahweh is used more often in the HCSB than in most Bible translations because the word LORD in English is a title of God and does not accurately convey to modern readers the emphasis on God's personal name in the original Hebrew.
(and this is why I bought a copy of the HCSB for myself). It probably has the name Yahweh hundreds of times as opposed to thousands, and never in the NT, since there is no solid evidence it should be there.
For a study version though I like the NKJV Nelson's Study Bible.

A sweet and elegant necklace is a good choice. If she is the mother of your children, maybe a heart that says 'mom' (avoid tacky tho, there's lots of tacky ones).
