It may be so light in attendance cuz families with kids in school are waiting a couple more weeks to go to their Friday. Of course, those are the not QUITE so extreme families. -

She is fabulous. I was wiping away tears, too.
It's still kind of surreal to hear someone expressing out loud thoughts that had been so internal for me for so long.

What triggered your doubts / awakening?
by Tornintwo ini am sort of new here, used a different username for a while but things got 'difficult' at home so i've since been lurking.... what i would be really interested to know, if you don't mind sharing, is what it was that triggered your doubts and initial research which led to awakening, was it a bad experience, injustice, changed doctrine?
for me, it was seeing mistreatment of young ones in the congregation, they're under so much pressure and as soon as they go even slightly astray they are shunned, either informally (as bad associations which pushes them further into the 'world') or formally - with elders dying to throw the book at them so they even lose their family.... ...then reading about child abuse issues in the press.... ...which led me to silentlambs.
...then jw facts, this forum and coc, wham!

Finkelstein I haven't found that to be true in my case. I joined a religion that lets you question and wrestle with God without people telling you what to believe. I can't really explain to you how great this is for me without being annoying here :). My problem with my church is on a personal level with a woman there who has a very strong personality. But dealing with it has helped me grow as a person.
My point in writing is, if you want to have faith, and that is a personal choice, there are plenty of places to go. I agree with the poster who said 'anywhere but there!'...well, I would avoid the more legalistic churches....but really, almost any church is 100 times better than sitting through a meeting and feeling absolutely nothing, where there is also nothing to engage your mind. Remember the hard part about leaving the witnesses, cuz you liked a lot of the people? Yeah I had that too. I've met so many wonderful new people tho. They embraced me fully, but without sabotaging my brain. It's awesome.

Honey you need to gear yourself up for about 3 years of feeling this way. But when you are 18 you can live your own life. Your life will be amazing. You just need to get through this horrible part, ok? Are you baptized? If not, don't get baptized, obviously. It's your own choice, your parents can't force you. -

JWs and their views on Sex
by campaign of hate inin the past i have read on this forum that the wt have a say in the "bedroom" of couples.
i thought that was a bit overkill at first, but recently i have come to conclusion that this is true.. the control administered by the wt cooperation on ones sex life is not on only intrusive, its damaging.
they control every aspect of ones thought and action, thus leading most down a path that said corporation wants them to tread.. this path is to get married young, and then eternal loyalty the the organisation.. so how can an organisation force you to get married young?.

Interesting how strongly they assert masturbation leads to homsexuality...if you were to believe that, you would think that with 93% of males doing it...there would be a lot more homosexuals!
Blech, well im glad we missed this early 70's stuff, being too young. They need to get themselves out of people's bedrooms. No, a man who is 'stronger' should not force a woman into any sex act she doesn't want to do...again, the need to make sure you are sexually compatible before marriage!

Strange but Sad!
by John Aquila ini had a couple of elders come visit me about an hour ago.
they wanted to inform me that a brother who was well known throughout the circuit had died.
(i actually knew about it but did not go to the funeral) he was about to hit 90 years old, missed it by a few weeks.

I'm really disgusted by this story.
Yes, if the parent needed money for a nursing home, you can bet they would call 'family' so the children can take care of their parents. 'They're family!' But do they let them be 'family otherwise? Nope.

A (different) friend, years ago, was gossiping about a young man in our cong. who was married but was caught with a prostitute. He had asked for oral sex. The friend said to me 'many men like that, and we don't do it because jehovah doesn't like it. So he went somewhere else to get it.' And I was thinking 'me and my husband do that stuff all the time!'
