  Me too lrg! I bet Latter Day Saints and Scientology are numbers 31 and 32 :). Other controversial organizations that have way too many strung out followers spending time maintaining their image.

  Incidentally, when I was researching the cross on Wikipedia years ago, I saw that picture that was in the live forever book, drawn 400 years ago, of jesus on a stake. It was right next to OTHER configurations the same artist had done, he had like 16 different ideas of the way jesus could have been impaled. Most of them with arms outstretched. Of course the live forever book didn't have THOSE drawings in it. They purposely chose an 'old looking' drawing to make it seem like people used to not believe in the cross, never mentioning the other 15 drawings. But this misrepresentation I realize now is normal for them.

  Researching wikipedia a couple years later, it was all gone.

  Strange Moment During The 2015 Regional Convention

  hi, i'm new here but hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.

  during the "imitate jesus" rc there was a strange moment where they played a video of a brother trying to explain the 1914 teaching.

  the brother quickly goes through all the scriptural "proofs" and the householder is dumbfounded.

  It takes a lot for me to click on a real wt video, and I haven't watched this one. But could the object of the video be to encourage them to SIMPLIFY witnessing? Just stick to placing magazines and directing people to the website?

  i am looking for some songs that are in ref to celebrating leaving, seeing the light, realizing what you were told wasnt right, being happy w your life, etc etc.

  all those emotions about being controlled and repressed, being told what you can feel or think or how to live, blindly following the "brotherhood ".

  But the witnesses are so slick with words, i think they'll use their manipulation mastery to twist it in such a way as to keep most of the flock enraptured.

  I would think they are losing followers to the 'generation overlap'...dropping 1914 would help with that. Most of the reasonable sort of witness would like to lose any association with any specific date (and therefore false prophecy). But you're right, it would be a huge admission that they were wrong. And unlike the other false date prophesies, it has been written about constantly in their literature. Not easy to shake off. Time will tell what they decide to do. They can't stick with it much longer.

  we know the wt interpretation of matt 25:40 is support of the anointed.

  since most of us here are no longer in that situation, what, if any forms of charity are you involved in?

  sorry for the awkward framing of the question, it's not meant to imply atheists, or non-christians are not charitable!

  These are great!!

  I forgot two more of my favorites!! Doctors without borders, and smile train. Smile train fixes hairlips and cleft palates for $225 for children worldwide. Their doctors donate their time, their ad campaigns are set up by a trust, so ALL the donated money goes directly to the surgery for a baby or child. It totally transforms them socially and physically. That is probably my favorite one and I try to donate a complete surgery once a year, tho I missed last year :(.

  I think people are waiting for them to finally change this teaching. Just 'let it go' as princess Elsa says.

  Ohmygosh that's another leaving the witnesses song....

  anyway, yes. Witnesses loved the 1914 thing in 2014, when they thought it was a VERY special year, and something was going to happen. But now it's 2015 and a half, and they are probably embarrassed by it. I mean they have to wait another 99 years to get excited about it again.

  When they finally drop it (and it will be huge, because they've based their entire religion on it), witnesses will rejoice. The religion will still be all about Armageddon of course, but they can stop thinking about the embarrassing past and look forward.

  Almost forgot! We regularly support public radio and Heifer international too. I love heifer because they give livestock to the very poor throughout the world and train them. The livestock (chickens, bees, goats etc) reproduces and then they share with other families and self sufficiency spreads.

  We contribute to way too many charities. It's sometimes hard to decide if we should give more resources to just a few, or fewer resources to many! I was doing good for a while in narrowing it down. As a witness I used to donate to a lot of animal organizations, primarily. Now it's more political and environmental organizations. And our church gives us lots of opportunities to help the homeless and elderly. Most of my volunteer time goes to the elderly. Actually that's my new passion, helping them be more independent and not have to go to nursing homes, and helping them take care of their needs. As a 90 year old man I was helping today said, 'growing old isn't for sissies!!' It really, really sucks. I really sympathize with them losing their eyesight and walking around with pain. Keeps them from doing things they used to enjoy.

  I believe this is a criticism of the fear mongering and presumptuousness of witness end times theology.
