Know of any ex-mormons I could talk to?
by Brighid init's a business related matter and i'm just looking for some insight on doing business (very remotely) with mormons.
looking for some inside tips on what a devout mormon would find acceptable and/or not in business.
or if it even matters to them when it comes to business.

You could also ask a current Mormon, I think. -

Witness behavior in my gym ....
by SecretSlaveClass inabout two months ago two very attractive ladies in their mid 30's signed on at one of the gyms i belong to.
for a while i noticed them watching me and naturally i assumed they were taking an interest in how i went about training my clients since many do before they decide to approach me and inquire about my services (i own a health and fitness consultancy).. sure enough one of them approached me a few weeks back and asked me for a business card, inquired about rates and various other aspects involved with signing on with me.
i handed her a card and explained that my client schedule was full but she should consider signing on with one of my personal trainers who still had some open spots available.

I think she's too mortified to ever show her face in that gym again.
I kind of feel for her tho. I don't like her at all, but I do know being a witness screws you up. She probably didn't love this guy but married too young to get away from controlling witness parents, and never got to be just herself between those two periods. However you handled this situation perfectly, and I hope she wakes up to her own hypocrisy and that of the religion as a whole.

To those of us now FREE....
by The Rebel inon another thread i commented " the most wonderful thing for me about having left the organisation is giving an education to my child, encouraging him to be dedicated and committed to the person he himself wants to be".
for me that is the best thing about being free from the organisations control.. what has been your best realisation having left the organisation?.

The most important thing I am thankful for, and also a substantial relief for me, is not having to force my kids down one particular very narrow path for their life's journey. Instead, the whole broad horizon is open to them. There are so many types of people, and the kind of person naturally inclined to go the witness way is a very unusual sort of kid, and I don't think one that I even like. My kids can now go their own natural way, and decide what they believe and what they want to do with their time and how they want to make a living and who they will love, and I will always love them and be their mom.
it's freaking huge.

Fellow life doubter here with a similar tale. It's because we care about what we are teaching our children! And we want them to have good lives!
Here's to breaking the cycle, and your open and free mind. 🍺

Can You Really Become Inactive Instead of DA'ing and Keep Your Family
by truth-or-consequences inoz branch coordinator terrence o'brien opined a number of times at about 1:00:00 until about 1:15:00 of his testimony, that a dub does not need to da, they can become "inactive.".
i sent our beloved angus stewart my personal experience, as well as observations about official borg teachings.
(he replied in short order.).

Unfortunately there's no subheading 'You have woken up and no longer believe our lies' in the Return to Jehovah brochure. Otherwise, it would apply to a LOT more people! Darn, now we can never return! ;) -

Pa2 I was curious about the same thing :) it always seems to be something from inside, not something we can say to people, but something they have personally discovered or seen that is the instigator. Tell us what it was, and if it was you or your husband first. -

I stayed away from apostasites while figuring stuff out too. Researched a little about an issue I was going through, was shocked by all the acerbic wit and just did theological research till I knew what I believed. Then came back after some years to see what changes there were in the org, (were they still disfellowshipping, and how were they handling 2015 and over a hundred years since the end of the world, lol). I love this place now. I'm so happy you and your hubby are both awake! That's just huge. Such a nice thing to come here and see your post today. Wishing you a smooth journey. -

Article in New Yorker magazine
by InquiryMan ini guess this article will be appreciated within the jw community, being on the positive side when discussing blood transfusion.
it is the first of three articles to be published in that prestigious magazine.. http://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/how-jehovahs-witnesses-are-changing-medicine.

I wonder how much of someone else's 'personality' you can get from blood fractions...careful, whoever donated it probably celebrated Christmas!! -

I did it, and still lost all my JW friends and my family hardly speaks to me. They all just went on a huge vacation filled with adventure and didn't tell me about it, found out indirectly. It hurts. But at least I don't have to go out in service :P.
