Baby steps taken with a grain of salt
by Israel Ricky Gonzales inseeing how my jw wife nearly lost it when i woke up to ttatt and was df'd just over a year ago, she has been showing cracks in her armor.. 1. she has stopped pioneering to resume her good-paying career, working full-time.. 2. she suggested marriage counseling.. 3. she suggested going to a latin rap concert at a casino for our anniversary.. 4. when we reconciled recently and began living together as a family again, she agreed to alternate weeks of jw activity with the kids, one week doing the jw thing with her and the next week not doing the jw thing with me .
5. she hasn't had perfect attendance at meetings or for field service since she started working full-time.
just last night, she skipped meeting to help co-workers prepare food for an employee appreciation luncheon held today.

This is wonderful news. I hope she can see how much happier she is by easing up. -

Let’s Speculate!!!
by John Aquila inyou know the organization is slowly going down.
not as fast as we would wish, but nevertheless it is crumbling.
five (5) year old child baptisms, smaller magazines, child sexual abuse exposed, smaller annual growth, no one wants to reach out, young ones leaving.

I think a few of the above things will happen. I'm glad I'm young enough to see it, and I'll hear all the news here. I want my family again. Whether it's the org falling, or becoming more mainstream, I've got hope.

Why Me?
by John Aquila indo you ever wonder why out of all the witnesses, you are the one that woke up?
i wonder many times why me.
i know many men and women that are much, much better persons than me; either they are much smarter, more humble, kinder, more successful, or just better persons all around.

Pb you are far from stupid! You were probably just looking for something different. From what I see on here, you don't shy away from having different thoughts than most people. It might have been this tendency that led you to the JW's, but this tendency also led you out of it! -

help me understand: My wife seems to be utterly detested by skelletons and skulls. Why?
by goingthruthemotions inso, here i am again....asking more questions to help me understand my wife.
she was brought up in the cult in the 70's and 80's.
so i can only imagine what kind of indoctrination she deals with.

Yes, anything with a skull or skeleton on it was a no no with my mom. It's probably fear of the occult, but often cross and bones is pirate...I guess that's not ok either, tho :) adoration of naughtiness I suppose...
Im actually not sure what the obsession with skeletons is, in tattoos and on bikers jackets etc. what is the message? I know it's not occult...but is it trying to convey a lack of fear maybe? This demands research. And why is a pirates flag a skull?

JW Threatened me with Violence Today :)
by cofty ini popped into the supermarket for a few things after work today and found myself walking up an aisle alongside a couple who used to be in my tuesday group.
i see them reasonably often and always say hello much to their obvious annoyance.
i noticed that ian was sporting a shaggy beard.

I'm curious how he got to be a beard wearing person. If you ever find out, remember to resurrect this thread and let us know. -

Just remember, YOU ARE FREE, THEY ARE MIND CONTROLLED SLAVES. Repeat this to yourself as often as you need to, when in these situations. Don't let them be in control of the situation, they don't deserve it. -

" See ourselfs as others see us"
by The Rebel inthe membership rule is simple, you join the organisation for life and undertake to serve for life.. my o.p is based on the poet robert burns who talked about the gift to " see ourselfs as others see us".
i think maybe the hardest thing for me to leave, the jehovers witness " organisation" was to accept how my family and friends will now "see" me.. so my questions are how difficult was it to leave:-.
a) knowing the reaction of friends and family?.

What were you favorite book in the organization? I know what you're thinking...LOL!
by BashfulAshG inwhat were *your favorite *books in the organization?.
out of all of those books, i liked "mankind's search for god.
" however, it appears to me that this book is incredibly obscure and no one recalls studying it during the old book study format.

The happiness book, very fluff, but when I was a little girl and it came out at the DC it was so FANCY with its gold cover and white roses!
I definitely remember studying Mankinds Search for God, blondie that's weird...
The creation book was definitely more interesting than the others. I didn't agree with much of what it said (its denial of early humans etc.) but I enjoyed its discussion of life, the cell, earth, space etc.
my very favorite was the Fucshia songbook. I hated when they came out with the mustard color hardback one.
The revelation book was always a bit fun, because it always got people talking 'see we need to study it again now because they know the end is here!!' and the book was batsh*t crazy.

NWT is soooo inaccurate....
by iwasblind inhi this is for the lurkers.. please start reading from another translation and use tools like www.biblehub.com to verify the differences you find.. biblehub has an interlinear and a strongs concordance and heaps of dictionaries and commentaries.. you don't have to be a translator but you can clearly see how the watchtower bible and tract society has changed the bible to devalue jesus, to support their idea of a paradise earth hope for christians and many other false doctrines.. i could never understand why the jw's where attacked when they chose to translate the bible - now i know.. seriously people, there are a lot smarter people than me on this forum and heaps of research.
.
don't be afraid of the truth!.
-

Iwasblind....when I started studying the kingdom interlinear and discovering how there was an obvious EFFORT to devalue Jesus in the NWT, I realized there was something sinister, almost satanic, about the religion I was brought up in.
Lurkers, study!! There are plenty other places to go. The truth will set you free.
