Just lost one more friend
by paradisebeauty ini used to talk weekly on skype, with a sister from another country.
i didn't tell her much about my research and change of beliefs, until today ... in the conversations some doctrines came up and i told her i don't believe 1914, first, then i went on to tell her that i also don't believe there are 2 classes of christians, that i did not believe the government of the kingdom will be in heaven while the kingdom en earth, that i believe the whole kingdom will be on earth, and that from what i read, jesus was pretty clear that he will come back to earth, visibly.
the "god always had an organization" dogma was dropped and i told her it is not true, out of 9000 years of human history, it's not sure there were 1000 years when god had a loyal organization ..... i did not plan to tell her all this things, but it just happened, and things came up in the conversation... and once i dropped one bomb i dropped them all .... she said i do not sound like i am one of the jehovah's witnesses any more ... and even though we ended the call with "see ya" i have the feeling i will not hear from her any more ... .

Pb, I am sorry. Hopefully some of your points will get through to her with a little more time. Or she may just cloud them out, because it's easier. It's hard losing friends, people who have cared about you and who you care about. <3 -

TV.JW.ORG (September 2015) - Generation explained again
by Designer Stubble inguess the overlapping generation concept is difficult for most to comprehend.
david spane does his best to explain it again.
the cutoff date for this generation has now moved to 1992 (was once 1935), the year that fred franz died.

A generation is a group of people in a 20 to 30 year time period. They age generally together and die generally in a similar period of time.
When Jesus spoke of it, it applied to those who would see the destruction of Jerusalem.
The governing body applying it to themselves is delusional, desperate nonsense.
Lurkers: There are other places to go. You don't have to entertain these false prophets anymore. You WILL be happier elsewhere, despite what they say. Of course they are going to say that there is nowhere else to go. They want control of your life. They have taken advantage of you long enough. Listen to your brain.

Name Things You Can't Do If You Are JW...or not supposed to do
by minimus inwitnesses are not supposed to stand for the national anthem but can stand for a flag salute.. you can't say bless you if someone sneezes, good luck!, or " you too" if someone says, happy holidays.. it is a religion of cannot dos.
everything is pagan and worldly.. what are things that are unacceptable to jehovah's witnesses that really are no big deal to everyone else?

Make sure there are no fairies in your daughters wallpaper pattern, or anywhere on anything. Seeing a fairy movie is ok. Don't buy your son a magicians tricks kit. Seeing Cinderella is ok, but don't sing the bibbidi bobbidi boo song. Make sure not to speak too highly of any heroes not mentioned in the Bible. MLK was a false religion preacher, not to be idolized. We should be neutral on civic affairs, MLk wasn't. Abraham Lincoln is a nationalistic icon, not to be glorified. Susan B Anthony, she didn't know her place. Votes for women? Votes for anyone are choosing man's authority over Gods. Let the world get horrible, sit back and do nothing, it just proves our point that everything is going to pot. Don't smoke pot. -

Marvster, I used to ask what the red stuff was that came out of the veins while my mother cooked chicken. She said it was 'juices.'

WTW that sucks you had THAT kind of family. Ours did take vacations, lots of them.
didnt it suck when your family had to take WT rules and actually make them worse? For anonymity I can't say what my family's was, but I had a friend who couldn't wear purple because it was the color of royalty. It was her favorite color. I had another friend who had to say a prayer over a glass of water and every nibble she took throughout the day. Her mother said 'or else Jehovah will cut your throat!'

Vi I think it's maybe something to do with 'protecting the family unit,' that mothers should stay home and take care of their children full time. -

The Heartless JW

Similarly, when my good friend's mom died of cancer, my mother blamed her daughter for the death, because she married a worldly guy and became inactive and 'stress can cause cancer.' -

A Techno-phobe seeks advice.
by Phizzy inthis may seem simple to all you young folks(under 50) out there, but this old fart is just wondering, how much can people see on facebook in the way of comments, if you have privacy up and running so that, i thought, only those you have friended can see what you comment ?.
i am not overly bothered, but it occurs to me that since in recent times i have been more active on fb, my outspoken comments against the jw scam may be visible to those who are not actually "friends" ???.
i am just wondering if i should expect (as in monty python) the spanish inquisition ?.

Simon's right, they constantly change the privacy settings, and everything goes back to their default (and very open) mode every time they do!! Obviously Facebook doesn't understand what it's like to try to leave a cult! They have this dreamy 'people should be open about their lives' mentality which is just not practical for EVERYONE in the world.
Seriously, if you are going to post stuff, be willing to face what may happen. Sometimes that's liberating, but it's scary beforehand and during.

Stillin...yes it's funny. I was always particularly disturbed by Mormon teachings. 'They're so crazy and sexist' etc etc...I think it was a way of deflecting some of the feelings I had for my own birth religion, but wasn't free to express.
And witnesses, they think every fringe religion is crazy but their own. 'Oh my gosh, christian scientists!! Not going to the doctor!!! Extremist!! Amish!!!Get with modern times!!! Mormons!! How can they possibly believe a canoe of Israelities sailed across the ocean?? Don't even get us started about scientologists!! L. Ron Hubbard made that religion up!! What a cult!!' Lol.
