  The Governing Body and "Josephs generation"

  hi, i m new here and not so good in english, but ive give it a try and hope you understand.. .

  the whole idea of the overlapped generation is not only illogical, there are also serious errors in reasoning and how to interpret the scripture.. .

  the only "scriptural argument" that the governing body has managed to bring in this matter is exodus 1: 6 where they say that a "generation" can be stretched to cover a longer period than usually meant by a "generation".

  ....charles taze russell's mom and dad didn't have sex back on that night in june of 1851.... weird that a married couple getting horny could affect so many lives 164 years later.. just a random friday thought.

  Good points, Apostrate. But CTR started it. You're right, Rutherford made the religion like a police state. I think if russell hadn't started it and made these promises that my mother believed 'I'll never have to die! I will be beautiful forever!!'..., I know I would be better off.

  Tresdecu, I often think the same sort of thoughts. If only!! If only russell became a naturalist a la john Muir instead of 'theologian', if only my mother hadn't been at home that day the brother knocked on her door...life would have been so different for millions of us. Most for the way way better, probably a few for the worse.

  (maybe if you were a kid in a ghetto and joined a gang instead of going out in service, it would be worse for you...i don't know, but I heard a quote from the wayans brothers once that suggested growing up witness was better than growing up in the ghetto not witness...but still, why not go baptist instead, and get to go to college??)

  What will 1914 (DROPPED) mean for you (EX-JW)

  let's pretend this might happen.

  im not asking what it will mean for the jdubs or for the organization, but what will it mean for you---- if one day you wake up and the watchtower drops the 1914 doctrine.. (you know at some point they have to, but probably not our lifetime).

  if you are disfellowshipped or disassociated and have been shunned by your parents, by your children, by you spouse or ex-husband/wife, for years or even less, will you call your relatives and ask/tell them;.

  Are the Governing Body broadcasts promoted at Kingdom Hall meetings?

  a question for those still attending i guess but are all these new jw.telemuppet.org broadcasts advertised to the the rank and file or is it more of a background thing?.

  i'm wondering because i just can't believe my 70 year old die-hard jw mum would ever see them if she wasn't sat down in front of a screen and someone clicked 'play' for her.

  i really want her to see the wizards behind the curtain.

  Ah sir82, so it's like keeping up with reading the convention releases, and reading new watchtower and awake mags.

  I used to be embarrassed whenever a sister was gushing about some experience she read in an issue and she would ask me 'wasn't it wonderful???' And I would be like 'I haven't read it.'

  i've been casually wondering to myself since the propagandist broadcast about the name "jehovah" if it would be more proper to call him "yahweh" to myself.

  well tonight the answer suddenly came to me: it doesn't matter.

  last night i ran into a former elder friend, he is in his late 70s.

  he asked how i was doing and i asked how he was doing.

  then out of the blue he tells me; .

  hey what's going on with these 'dislikes' ?? Usually there's some consistency with how many pluses or minuses for each point of view...these seem to be all over the place. Is something glitching or do people really feel that strongly about john's story.

  hello all, i would like to first say that i am basically questioning my faith in god.

  i am not negative towards the wt at all.

  so honestly i am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the wt because i still love the organization and the people in it.

  I once felt the way you do too. I thought the org was mostly good, but I questioned the existence of God. Somehow over the years I came around to having the exact opposite belief. While I think individual people in the org are mostly good, the org itself is mostly just a high control corporation, bent on protecting itself and its assets without caring about its people, and I fully believe in God. I still love so many people who are Jw's. They're good people being manipulated and taken advantage of, strung along by their own high hopes. It was only when I went through an experience personally that my eyes started to be opened towards the organization behind them. Then I started actually reading the bible, too, which is when I found Christ. I suspect you haven't been personally hurt by the policies of the org. You sound unsympathetic to others, and rather crass. Some people need to feel it themselves to feel sympathy to others. I hope your loss of faith does not cause you to lose your family, as my change in faith caused me to lose mine. Does that seem just to you? That if I found a different faith than my birth family, I would lose them all? This particular religion we've been brought up in mandates that I can not change my religion and keep my family. It's pretty rare in the world today. Only extreme Muslims feel the same way, as far as I know. And some cults.

  Each and every one of us here who has either left, faded or shown discontent in any way is a witness to those remaining. When they are feeling doubts, they are going to think of us. 'My brother in law is out of it, and seems to be fine.' 'My sister no longer believes.' 'My son left. And he's happy.' 'That family who used to come, they don't anymore.' We are, often in a subtle way, showing them that there are other options.

  Extreme emotions re today's watchtower

  i was supposed to attend the meeting today, one of my once a month duties for the sake of my family and my fade.

  i read the wt and i just can't stomach going.... what this wt does is again and again reiterate that only jws will survive the coming destruction and that they should be happy about this and raise ourselves erect...eg:.

  we cannot expect that many people will suddenly convert to true christianity.

  I have a relative who unfortunately has delusional disorder. Thinks she is a special 'chosen one' and thinks various countries are out to get her and her son. It's ruining her life and her marriage. She can't function. The JW leadership has a delusional disorder as well, but on a grand and dangerous scale. They are controlling 8 million people, often ruining marriages and families, destroying the potential of millions of children, closing doors of opportunity, throwing water on sparks of natural talent every day.

  steve2 I thought the same thing. 'Soon we may start proclaiming it is the end!' What the heck have they been doing this whole time, selling daisies?
