You would think they would be embarrassed
by stillin into tout the fact that jesus christ is the head of the congregation is fine... if he was.
a quick glance at the page in the back of the current study wt seems to say otherwise.
if you recall, they print up a page at the end of every year with a quick rundown of the articles for the previous year.. surprise!

When I started waking up, I would read the Bible during meetings. In the new testament Jesus has equal or more representation with the father. I would read Jesus, Father, Jesus, Christ, our Lord, Jesus, God, Jesus...and then listen for a while and never hear Jesus. First doctrinal realization for me that something was definitely not right! Edit: I'm remembering now that an elder I mentioned this to told me that the society was trying to get people to mention Jesus more, and you will see him in the literature but people don't catch on in their talks and comments. I remember thinking, it's too stinking late, they have neglected him too long, no way can they be real christians. But your observation, still in, about last year's articles prove that they actually haven't changed at all, not even in their publications. -

Taking random scriptures out of context to prove their doctrine seems to be unique to JW's. I'm sure other cults do it too. It was interesting to me, when I first started attending another church, that the sermon would comprise of reading a whole chunk of the bible and then making application of it. No wonder most religious people aren't as good as witnesses at flipping all over the bible. -

A Good Decade
by theliberator inif you were really into the organization back in the 80's, you have to admit, that it was the peak of the organization.
it was a time of high energy and excitement.
like any nation, it reaches a peak and then it declines.

I know, liberator. Wish i could have a do-over of my life sometimes, and this time a few guys in Brooklyn would have a lot less power over it. But here I am, and they have no power now. They only used to, because I hadn't taken a stand yet. Those days are over. -

Liberator, for me the early 80's were significant too (tho I do know what 3rd gen is talking about...I remember the freedom and fun of the 70's, the individuality in talks and the large parties and picnics with people putting on variety shows and sports activities)...but back to the 80's, remember how huge the live forever book was? And the massive push for becoming a pioneer? Remember that circuit assembly where pioneers wore badges that said 'ask me, I'm a pioneer!' And they had special tables. If you were graduating high school and not planning to pioneer immediately, you were an outcast! And it was almost expected that you start pioneering while still in high school. The generation was 70 years old at least, and the bible said a generation was 70 or 80, nuclear war was imminent, men were faint out of fear! I actually hated it all and don't look fondly on those days as a witness, but for me, like you, the 80's was the ultimate time for witnesses, all seems downhill for them from there. -

The Pope is more like Christ than the GB
by StarTrekAngel injust a quick line to share something i heard in the news yesterday.
while we may disagree with many of the doctrines of the catholic church, there was something interesting.. the subject was regarding the view by the church on abortion and contraceptives.
while the pope insisted in the absolute and immutable evil of terminating a pregnancy, he said that considering the risks presented by the zika virus, women in south america should consider contraceptives to prevent unwanted pregnancies that could end up in a child born with defects.

Help to build a "Guide to Your New Faith"
by Defianttruth ini have seen many people ask the question, "if its not the truth what else is there?
" i imagine that most people want to remain in a christian faith so i want to build a matrix for one to use as a guide in finding a new church if he or she feels a need to worship.
i personally don't attend any church and i will keep my personal beliefs to myself.

I would add one...tho the information control came close.
If your church says 'don't research us. Just read about us what we give you' it is...I guarantee...a bad church! -

Hi Harvard! Welcome!I would just say, stick to more harmless 'vices' like light drinking, light swearing, occasional weed, disco dancing, cleavage baring (if you want), holiday celebrating, clothing with flags on them, voting, wishing people good luck, crossing your fingers, and toasting people at weddings. But! Stop the smoking. Seriously you need to take care of yourself. The world isn't necessarily ending in your lifetime anymore. Make your life long and healthy. -

We may have interbred with Neanderthals earlier than previously thought.
by cappytan init is now thought that we have been interbreeding with neanderthals as early as 100,000 years ago.. http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-35595661.
craziest thing i just realized: some women still breed with neanderthals up to this day.
rihanna and chris brown anyone?.
-
FayeDunaway
Flipper that is hilarious!
Chris Brown definitely isn't as neanderthal as he seems. The humans who didn't venture out from Africa have no neanderthal in them, since neanderthal peoples were primarily in Eurasia. -

Masons, Tomas Jefferson, Jesus, ancient Egyptian religion, Russell
by Crazyguy ini believe the masons we're anti christs, tomas jefferson i read even wrote a bible leaving out anything to do with jesus because these masons new the christ was just a retelling of older god's, some of these gods being from the egyptian religion.. russell was said to be a mason and it's interesting that he traveled to egypt to confirm some of his beliefs.
then after he returns home his religion becomes more like that of the ancient egyptian religion then probably any other christians sect.
like the egyptians the jws believe in a two class system one class goes to heaven to be with god, just like the pharaoh's and the other rank and file class goes to a paradise called the field of reeds.

Russell was like, a WANNABE Mason. Like a Mason, but way not as cool, and not accepted by him in their society, tho he liked to pretend he knew the special handshakes. (Lol) Interesting observations, crazy guy, esp. about Egytian beliefs and how they matched Russell's.
