Things I Never Knew When I Was A Witness!
by disillusioned 2 inthere are some things that as a witness i never knew.
maybe i was just going through the motions, attending meetings and not listening much.
never was very good at personal study or underlining answers in watchtower or book study (i never ever answered up) was too shy.. i never knew when i was a witness that they taught that jesus had looked down on the earth in 1919 to see who was serving god most accurately, and of course he chose a small group of bible students living in america!

Omg, is THAT why every elder is supposed to have a locked file drawer in their house?? That's disgusting. As if every single person doesn't sin in some way or another!
I just learned something new today!

Got a call, my dad is in hospice...
by dubstepped inour last conversation was him yelling at me because i "loved the gays".
translation, i pointed out that nobody chooses their sexuality.
i've been shunned since daing last september, and really for a year or so after visiting my df'ed brother.

Dubstepped I would do something for your dad during your camping trip. Maybe say a few words for him around the fire one night. Have your own small Ceremony. Read Psalm 23. Sing a song.
It's going to be more meaningful than any witness memorial.
I'm glad there are good parts about your relationship with him that you can remember.

I didn't know about miracle wheat, Beth Sarim, their hypocritical membership in the UN (that oh so detestable sacrilegious thing that wants to um, avoid war and um, end hunger and help children), that Russell used the steps inside the great pyramid of Giza to prove the end would come in 1914 (which is very similar to another cult's measurements of Noah's ark to predict the end of the world. One quack's ideas are not so different from another's!), Rutherford's horrible, horrible personality, alcoholism and well documented adultery, and that he usurped the Bible Students throne after Russell died, and went against the wishes of Russell outlined in Russell's will. I didn't know about the hypocrisy of policies in Africa vs. the same issues in Mexico (can't hurt the people so close to us, lets have a double standard)...
I DID know about Russell's pyramid gravesite and the masonic ties, and I had heard of Russell's divorce. I think there was a guy/apostate? at a door who had read a book and shared with me and my father those things before my father dismissed ourselves.

I went to see my Dr about the blood card issue
by purrpurr ini booked a double appointment so that she wouldn't be rushed.
i explained that i'd been brought up in the jw's and woken up to what a load of shite it was.
i explained that they have changed the blood card and that the elders in the cong are being told to effectively force people into signing it.

Pale emperor, I think most witnesses are very homophobic and male witnesses are generally sexist. The only one I would contest is the racist charge. I know there is racism in southern USA congregations, and witnesses in my own extended family are racist, but I would say the racisim reflects from the communities the witnesses live in, while the homophobia and sexism is generally worse than in the communities witnesses live in. -

Bible Visit
by Michelle inis anyone here from imus cavite?
i need someone come to our house.
i need someone to invite my father.

Michelle, nobody needs a high control religion to come swoop in and take their life over. It would only serve their own purposes. They want you to serve as one of their minions. If you want religion in your life, try a regular church, not a cult. -

I just want to say, that if you are a lurker here and are going through depression because this religion you used to believe in is a sham but you feel stuck, your life WILL get better, your circumstances may change, or you just might mature and grow more courageous to finally live for yourself, but please don't feel like you are going to be stuck forever. It is better to break away, slowly or quickly, your choice, than to try to keep everything 'perfect' when in reality you know you are miserable. You can rebuild your life. You can seek therapy to survive what you're going through now until then. Don't give up!!!! -

Whats the one thing
by MrTheocratic injw's are constantly trying to prove they have the truth.
they always point to matthew 24:14 and say "who is accomplishing this work today?
this proves we have the truth and gods backing".. for those of us in this community looking from the other side what is one thing that proves to you that this organization does not have gods backing?

For me it was that they changed the Bible. When i discovered after research that the name Jehovah really does not belong in the Greek scriptures, I lost all respect for them, who SAY they respect the bible, but actually would change it to fit their own beliefs. -

Very Weird Experience During Recent Special Talk After Memorial
by Tenacious inhesitantly i attended this talk with my family and sat through it without batting an eye.. mentally i take myself out during the entire meeting some would describe this as daydreaming or zoning out.
whatever the case may be, for some reason this particular speaker, whom i know of but not personally, got my attention the way he would say certain phrases.
he cited some texts that directly advised the audience that faith in christ was the only way to salvation.
