Yes, tell him to say yes he thinks they are God's directed organization. I was asked this question when I was still a half believer, so I didn't have to lie at the time...but I remember being asked and it was a huge question, the mood lightened significantly afterwards. -

Advice needed on Crisis of Conscience
by cappytan inso, some of you may have seen my thread from yesterday about my wife waking up.. we had further discussion yesterday evening after i sent her the pbs video on the abuse scandals plaguing the watchtower.
she was so furious and pissed off at wt hq.
apparently a close relative of her's was abused by an elder and the only reason he was reproved and removed as an elder was because he confessed.

Order the book on Amazon. Then tell her how surprised you were by Ray franz' tone. I think she got the impression he was a hateful guy from what you said about the book. Tell her he was one of the most loving peaceable men ever alive and a true role model for anyone. Also, listen...I know you said your world came crashing down by reading the book. For me it didn't at all. It just confirmed some intuitions that I had always had about the religion. And like Ray franz, I still have a strong faith in God. If it's all or nothing for you, then yes I think it can be a devastating read. You don't know which way your wife will go. She might still believe in God...and if so, reading the book is not devastating, it's affirming. Have the book around for when she's ready, just tell her it's there. -

I quit the Theocratic Ministry School
by My Name is of No Consequence inafter almost 24 years in the school and doing it since i was nine years old, i officially resigned.
it has become increasingly difficult to prepare talks, especially with the new format for brothers.
i did not mind doing them; i actually put the time and effort into getting them out.

This men doing the sisters format is really humorous to me. I keep imagining them doing the talks in skirts, making sure they go over the knee. Are there silly settings involving cousins or coworkers during a break?? -

Mmm, yes. We tried so hard to be good girls and good boys.
Had to finally grow up and live our own lives.
That goodbye part... :(
ive pinned down what I hate most about the religion.
it tears families apart.

Just Want To Be Heard
by dubstepped ini've been lurking here for a while now, and i guess you could call me a fader.
i don't have hate in my heart for the organization that i spent most of my life in, but i have had an awakening.
luckily, so has my wife, and that way i don't feel so alone.

That was beautiful.
Im glad your wife is of the same mind as you. That's the most important thing.
do some research on doctrine, and read the book of John. Get a different bible, too.
im glad you're happier now that you're starting to see clearly.

The song titles escape me, but foo fighters 'what if I say I'm not like the others, what if I say I'm not just another one of your plays, you're the pretender, what if I say I will never surrender!!!'
Muse 'they will not control us! we will be victorious!' (Every single word of that song)
And more wistfully, john Lennon (wheels) 'no longer riding on the merry go round, I just had to let it go'
Also I just heard a new foo fighters song, quite angry, called 'Congregation'...I couldn't understand all the words, but I've got to look them up. Was Grohl raised a witness??? Lol

Ok I could only watch half a minute of that. It's been 5 years since Ive had to listen to witness propaganda and can't take it. Now I get it about sparlock.
The moms face when she says 'oh, your FRIEND gave this to you.' Totally freaky. Like the part in LOTR when Frodos sees Bilbo turning crazy over the ring 'it's MINE!' ...when she says it, a quick ugly dark shadow passes over her face. I can't believe they are showing kids this stuff. horrid brainwashing of children. As if the friend was EVIL...no, the mom is evil.

You were in more recently than I was, so I'm afraid I can't update you on stuff as well as others here. I've heard a few references to 'sparlock' and have no idea what that means, so fill ME in :)
