Memorial talk wt escape clause
by prologos in" --only those in the kingdom covenant were served the bread & wine by jesus--" ---false!
this phrase switches from the forgiveness of sin part to the exclusive anointed club section of the memorial talk, and it is false because: the kingdom covenant was done after the passover was done.
and the promise of thrones and judging israel in math 19:28 was not a covenant but an assurance.

New day I haven't studied the symbolic 144,000 deeply, but from reading revelation, it sounds like they are Jews. I do believe that people go to heaven to be with Jesus, and someday, ultimately they will live on earth again. It says 'the tent of God will be with them'. I don't speculate on what exactly this means, but it is part of most Christian theologies that the righteous will eventually live on earth...which I only learned after going to church for a while. Personally I don't think much about the afterlife, I try to live life right now. -

Churches go WAY more out on Jesus death then JW's ever did during this week!
by EndofMysteries inmy significant others church, what do they do on the week of christs death?
sunday service all based on jesus death, big 50 person choir, performances, etc.
last night some special service, they have a sit down passover w/ the bread and wine, then 24 hours it's open w/ special places for anybody any time of night to come and pray if they want.

Yep, it's a big deal in most Christian churches. Actually it starts with Lent and it's forty days of meditating on what Jesus did for us and then the huge celebration of his resurrection at Easter. Yup, growing up witness I had no idea!! Thought it was mostly eggs and bunnies. Actually I don't think its a coincidence that Jesus died and was resurrected in the spring. It's all about hope and joy and life.
But witnesses are quite full of themselves to think their bizarre little ritual is so amazing.

The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

I've been in halls where real witnesses partook, but the elders decided not to count it, because they thought the person was too young (40!) or too crazy. So, I wonder how many are ACTUALLY partaking. -

Worst Memorial Talk Ever!
by The Searcher ini honestly have never heard such claptrap being delivered in a memorial talk.. the speaker repeatedly put down the way other religions administered the bread & wine, and claimed that witnesses do it exactly as the bible describes.
oh yeah????.
he forgot to mention - when reading aloud 1 corinthians 11:25 - that after passing the bread, a full meal was to be shared, before the wine was passed around!

It is sooo ridiculous how they worry so much about getting the day right, getting the wine and bread right, getting the 'sundown' right....yet they get the MAIN thing...that all believers should partake, WRONG.
Like I said earlier today... Over applying parts of scripture, completely missing the principle. I am happy to not be going. I went to a much more meaningful good Friday type celebration.

Just to see...
by SoJo16 ini walked by the local double hall this afternoon on my way home from work at about 4:30 pm.
you would never know it's a special night.
no cars in the lot, nothing swept, no flowers or decorations...totally dead.

They also could be having it at a community center or something and didn't worry about cleaning up the hall for that reason. Kh's in my area usually have it at a community center. -

Yeah, without the transfusion, you'll die. But at least you will have avoided the risk of deadly infections or other medical risks. -

Need your thoughts... Again
by Garrett in(sorry for any typos, i'm on my ipad) so, remember how in my last post i mentioned that i had told some of my dear friends why i decided to leave?
well, one of those friends was a girl... not just any girl, but rather, a girl that i've loved since the moment i've met her.
she used to say that she considered me her best friend and we were really close she just never really returned my feelings for her due to different circumstances i presume.. but i always felt a connection.. anyways, after telling her that i decided to leave because of multiple reasons but that the tolerance of child sex abuse was the final straw, she responded asking where i got my information and that she wanted to talk about it with me.. this feels like an opportunity for me to tell her about my findings, what do you think?

Yep, she's definitely open to talking and maybe thinking about it! I remember you mentioning her before, that she is more 'normal' than most witnesses.
Just prepare her that her whole life may possibly be about to turn into a roller coaster ride. And she possibly is going to try to change your mind (did you tell her you sent the DA letter???)

First Post and Using the memorial to wake up family members

The memorial as laid out in scriptures is nothing like the witness memorial. They actively REJECT the salvation of Christ by passing the plate and not partaking. I disagree with finkelstein on this one and believe that the witness memorial is NOT biblically sound. The whole 'other sheep' thing is insane. The little flock Jesus was speaking of is the Jews, the other sheep, and great crowd, are Gentiles. But everyone who believes in the salvation of Jesus partakes!!

For me this issue is so simple. Blood is sacred because it represents life. Life is so sacred we should do anything to save it. Including using blood to save life. This is actually the most respectful way we could treat blood, to use it to save life. it's what blood is for, to preserve life.
If you take a life, you are blood guilty. If you let someone die because they need blood, you are blood guilty.
The biblical 'pouring out blood' was about killing animals and eating them. It was disrespectful to eat the blood, it was not considering the life that you had taken to eat that animal. It has nothing to do with how blood is used today to save lives. It is disrespectful to let someone die and not use the lifesaving gift of blood.
it is the simple-mindedness of JW doctrine to take these scriptures and not only over-apply them but not understand the principle behind them.
