Just wrote my DA letter....
by dubstepped inmy wife and i planned on fading but the elders now want a shepherding call and we are just done.
i know that many play the game to try to stay in, but i'm not a game player and neither is my wife.
our families already shun us because we reached out to a disfellowshipped family member.

Completely understandable! It's such a heavy thing. Is a move possible for you? -

Dubstepped I completely agree with your point of view and what you have decided to do, and I would send them a loving letter as well. So glad your wife is with you. <3
live guilt free. And as you say, most of them are victims just as we were. So forgive them for what they have taken from your life. But be very proud of yourself for standing up and expressing your voice and using your own brain and congrats and best wishes for you both in living FREE.

Going to a bad place when i die
by 060702015 ini've thought and said too much to ever gain jehovahs forgiveness and love if i want to be a christian again.
i made a topic on my unforgivable sin and blaspemy of the holy spirit.. i feel saddness everyday having no relationship with god, no religion and fear of the afterlife.
even when i was kid i feared death and the end of the world.

There is absolutely no point in spending money on a therapist if you don't open up to him. So go ahead and get it over with, ok? I'm glad you are seeing one. Now take the next step. They are trying to figure out what is wrong with you. This guilt that you have is ruining your life.
I've told you before, if you love God, he loves you. Don't sweat anything else. But you need to talk about this. Don't be embarrassed. You think your therapist hasnt heard it all?? They HAVE heard it all, and they are there to help you.

Basic Bible and Religious Vocabulary the Watchtower Never Teaches
by CalebInFloroda inwhen i began formal study of religion and biblical analysis it was like peeling off layer after layer of dark matter, sticky and putrid that had stuck over my eyes and ears and mouth.
i learned that under the watchtower one only builds a widening gap between yourself and the world of biblical academia and scholars.
i used to think i knew a lot because i learned to quote a few scholars or lexicons as a witness.

Very nice thread Caleb. I was going to add eschatology to your list but you added it later! I never heard that term as a witness, which is ironic, because witnesses are so obsessed with end-times!
Regarding the hope of living on earth after heaven, it's definitely not just catholic and fringe religions who believe this. My mainline Protestant church teaches this.

Do you remember the 15 minute break at the Sun. meeting?
by 3rdgen ina poster on another thread reminded me of when there was a 15 min.
break between the talk and the wt study on sundays.
the break was supposed to be to allow jw's time to drive their bible studys home from the talk.

Holy cow I hadn't thought about this in decades. I believe I was VERY young when they discontinued the break on Sundays. Does someone remember the exact year? It must have been around 1977 maybe? I remember liking the chance to play with my friend (only slightly...we were allowed to say hello and not actually play). -

Im ready to leave
by SpunkedTeen ini just found this website and im so glad because for the first time in a long time i dont feel alone...i am a born in and in the last two years have been struggling because i thought that i was the problem and i was the reason for not feeling any love from and for the other pubs .i want to leave the org but have no idea how to tell my mother(who is a faithful jw).

If I was you I wouldn't tell my mother yet. Just slack off with witness stuff little by little. And occasionally try to ask questions to get her to think. This will make her worry, but won't completely break her heart all of a sudden, and who knows you might help her start thinking.
I am really sorry you lost your father.
As I said before, use your last year in high school to do the best you can, save money, and talk to counsellors (there are way too many ways to spell that word and I don't know which is right and am unwilling to look it up!)
Definitely get involved socially in school this last year. Heck even try to go to prom if you can. Start living your life. But be very gentle with your mom.

Why hasn’t someone gotten real pissed off yet?
by John Aquila ini keep reading of some guy who is so upset at someone that he goes into a theater and shoots 20 people..
or a kid that is so mad that the other kids made fun of him that he goes to school and shoots a bunch of kids..
or some guy that was fired from his job and he goes back and shoots of bunch of his workers.

The JW's would get sympathy if something violent happened to them. They don't carry guns or go to war. People would be like, 'they're innocent! Annoying, but innocent!'...without understanding all the real harm they do to people.
I never considered violence. In my most tumultuous crisis/ttatt days I considered picketing the local hall with 'JW's destroy families!!' signs. And if they were going to disassociate me I was going to stand up immediately after the announcement and shout 'I'm free!!!' While running out of the hall. It was a fantasy I used to have while sitting through meetings.
I think anyone learning ttatt can see pretty clearly and knows everyone is brainwashed. As cruel as they can act, they are controlled by someone else.
