Memorial mixed emotions...
by Tornintwo indoes anyone else feel 'pulled back in' at this time of year?.
i still consider myself to a believer, believe in god and jesus christ, on the whole i think he taught tolerance, love, acceptance and i think we can benefit from following his example.

Torn, churches not only celebrate the resurrection (Easter) they also celebrate his death. Look up churches in your area online and see what they are doing this week. It could be Maundy Thursday or Good Friday or might have another name, but it will say. I can't express to you enough how much more meaningful these celebrations are than the witness memorial. The witness memorial seems like nothing compared to them. You don't have to just stay home, you can do this socially, and you can even partake for the first time if you go to a protestant church.

I grew up witness and now think it's so sad that at the big witness event of the year, the most exciting part was passing a plate and goblet for a couple seconds and figuring out who those guys with beards that you weren't allowed to talk to who only showed up at the memorial were.
It is really all so pathetic.

The memorial beauty pageant
by BlackWolf insince the memorial is coming up soon and its about time for me to go shopping for a new memorial ( aka easter) dress, i've realized what the memorial really is for us teenage girls, a beauty pageant!
the memorial is the day i spend painting my nails, curling my hair, and carefully applying makeup because my mother says i have to "represent jehovah" and look my best.
in reality its just to impress the newcomers and to compete with the other girls.

This guy took that 'pants on the ground' thing seriously!!
And yes, looks are the only things sisters have got. I've said it before, but when I wear stuff to church that I used to wear to the KH, I feel like I'm making a spectacle of myself. Now I'm allowed to have a mind and express it, I don't have to flaunt myself. It's weird how that happens.

Hi Everyone. Answer to prayer countdown...
by Stumpy ini've been lurking for about 3 months now and thought i'd better finally sign up.
you have all been an immense help to me as i have come to realize that this isn't the truth so i want to say a great big thank you!
what a crazy, emotional ride it is to finally face the truth about the doubts that i have carried for many years.

Thank you so much for the awesome update! I like that you guys can help your little niece and nephew grow up normally and im so glad you were able to help your sister.
Your close friends who also had doubts who were the first to shun you...it's because they're scared. They don't want to lose their families and everything they've ever known. They are still trying to make it work for themselves, and the fact they shared doubts with you makes them feel insecure.
If I was you I would consider adopting a child, but I understand that's not for everyone. And you do have your brothers kids. All fun no work!

LisaRose, that has the ring of truth.
I think we are all here because we skipped our 'medication' for too long.

I'm still in shock from the visual image of a child being taught to give their coins not to feed hungry children or for housing the homeless...but to give their coin to tall buildings. Buildings!! Oh, and meaningless literature carts everyone tries to avoid.
It's definitely a new low and I think normal people would be horrified to see it. Please share, if you can.

If you believe Christ died for your sins you are definitely a Christian, if don't think the bible should completely be taken literally, you are not a fundamentalist Christian. And that's OK!! -

Conan you were so courageous!! I hope you are OK too. It must have hurt a little to bring these truths to your friends and have this confrontation with them. It sounds like it ended much better than it could have, with you offering support to them if they need it and hugs all around. I am very glad your mother went with you, and it would have gotten much uglier. Witnesses are very reticent for outsiders to see any of the ugliness, so she was a very good protection.
In your religious search be very careful to avoid high control groups, this has been a good education for you.
