They're like beggars on the street, hands stretched out, screaming at people to give them money, while telling people to rely on Jehovah for their own provisions.

Rank & file are seeing the money-grubbing
by Zoos inspoke with a fellow apostate from my own area.
she and i bailed out about the same time and kept in touch.. she used to do secular work with one of the local elders in his cleaning business until she got dfed.
this same elder was one of the more profound dickheads on my reinstatement committee, before i turned around two years later and daed.. business required her to contact the elder on behalf of an old client.

No Munich?
by darkspilver inhey simon.
you marked the nice attack with a graphic and a few words on the right hand side of the forum - i didn't think you did the same for the recent orlando attack, but i presume you decided to introduce this new box out of a mark of respect going forward following the events in nice.. therefore, i'm wondering why you have appeared not to have done the same following the munich attack?.
sorry, my bad - i think you only last posted 14 hours ago, so you're unlikely to have had time to do it yet, sorry - the 'lastest topics' feature appears to show you posting just a few minutes ago, but that's because you started the topic and somebody else has just replied to it d'oh!

There are attacks every day, DS. The media doesn't report the ones that have become so common in some places that people have come to expect them. The Nice attack was much larger than most. Simon shouldn't be expected to officially recognize every one, but whatever he feels like acknowledging.

I do remember a big announcement at a circuit assembly here in the states, that we would no longer be charging for literature at the door and it would switch to a "donation arrangement." There was no good reason given, but the real reason was that religious institutions were going to start being taxed by the federal government for all sales.

Song 146 - You did it for me
by Listener inthe watchtower 1970 4/1 emphasis the principle that singing at the kingdom hall is part of worship to god and is one of the most beautiful ways they can show this worship to him.. of all the ways in which we can worship and praise jehovah god—by prayer, by public talks, by our field ministry and by our exemplary conduct—one of the most beautiful of them is this literal singing of songs to jehovah’s praise....and, above all, let us pay more than usual attention to the words.
it is by the words that we worship jehovah god, bringing praise to him.
as an introduction to song 146, jw org states -jesus considers any act of love and support for his anointed brothers as though it were done for him.

Funny, the title sounds like a Christian Rock song.
(Which, although I sing them sometimes at church, is not my favorite genre by far.)
But the words are all Jehovah's witness. You must prove your love constantly, you are never good enough, not really, you won't know till the end if you are approved. Pay me back for what I did for you.
Yuck.

Responding, so you will have to read :).
Sounds like a plan! Go live your life :). And come here occasionally, it doesn't have to be an addiction (like it sorta is for me).
Have a great day!

This place is less about being immoral and more about being free and able to talk. I would say most of us are happier since leaving, and it's less about sinning and more about following the natural course of your own life, without the dictates of a marginal religion. Some of us are actually more spiritual than we used to be. Doesn't sound like that will be your natural inclination, which is ok.
You sound depressed. I'm sorry your marriage has taken a downturn. You followed the typical witness pattern, baptized young, married early. It's a lot of heavy life altering decisions at a young age.
Do you have kids?

The elder gave your husband the advice that elders give to people who have to have an apostate in their house. If' you must live with them, no religious discussion is allowed whatsoever.' What they don't realize is that we 'apostates' LOVE that!! But what they are trying to do is protect their followers from any apostate reasoning and influence. But you know, your husband may be 'won without a word' (lol) by you following your dreams and pursuing interests and helping people and making friends and by still being a loving wife (if that is your wish.) I think this is GREAT for you, and I think you are very right to feel so free and positive. Hugs!!

But where else should we go? Can you answer this question?
by purrpurr inhaving watched many jc youtube videos one question that gets asked is "where else would you go?".
in other words if not jehovah's witnesses then what other religion or organisation would you go to?.
it's one that i have trouble answering, what would you say?.

Tho I agree with SBF that it is not a place but a person, I really like belonging to a community of worshipers. I have found somewhere else to go, but I could never answer that question to the elders without repercussions, so I chose to not talk about it when asked.
