Seattle, I would like to ask if you could possibly get that in digital format? Otherwise I could always steal my parents...but I would rather download it illegally ;)

When I was in highschool and it came out, my friends father had a bunch of us kids over to watch it. I had a really hard time...for so many reasons. I HATED that the witness kids were such ASSES...I mean, who wants to be around that sort of negativity? Oh and I was also very happy that I was going to college...and it was clear the video was against that. It was really annoying to be told on one side that yes I could go to college and that the society does not discourage it...and then see the society blatenly discouraging it (but no one catches on??). Their view that worldly kids only think of money, drugs, etc. Oh and the worldly boy in the car?? I could not finish watching it and I made up an excuse to hang out in the kitchen while it was playing in the livingroom (thats where the food was!).
In a room full of young witnesses...it was so hard not to laugh and scream at the television and it pisses me off to know that they use that type of LIES to trick teenagers. -

A 1914 generation question
by Pwned ini was around in 1995, barely, but i dont remember any talks or articles where the new light about the generation of 1914. did they change w/o coming right out and saying so,or was there a talk.
especially in regards to the mission statement or whatever in the awake, did they make an announcement or did they just hope no one would notice?
i just cant believe that there wasnt a mass exodus after that, my family never mentioned the change to me, i didnt even know til years later on this site.

this is very interesting to me. I just do not rememeber a doctrinal change and in my idea, the generation that saw 1914 would not die before armageddon came...I left in about 2001. It was so subtle! (The change, that is). I want to ask my parents about this and see what they say.

That one is not mine, but close enough. I drive a 2001 chevy cavalier, electric blue. Mine is in almost perfect condition, it has a cold air intake thingy and a large new exhaust. Also a really cool grill. I got it used a couple years ago with only 19,500 and it had all these mods on it! It still only has 40,000 miles on it, and I treat it good. Its the first car I ever bought. :) -

Oh man, there are funny ones here.
First off, a couple of times, during my "horny years" I could not wait to get home...so I did a little um..."self pleasure" in the KH bathroom. Oh my I can not believe I just admitted that.
I stole some makeup from Ames Department stores and even got caught by security but I denied it TO THIS DAY to my parents. They even bought a lawyer and I I went to trial and had the charges dropped.
I have had nude pictures of myself taken from my computer...I know that at about two years ago they were floating around the internet but I have not seen them since. (please do not go looking, but if you do, do not post them and just PM me and tell me where they are!)
WHO'S BAD? *dances* -

Wife joining, but I don't want the kids to get all brainwashed

she feels that the choice is between nothing and god, and that the only way to have a relationship with god is through these people.
i have accepted that.

"For me now the issue is the children. Many have said do not openly or directly oppose, since that will cause problems. But I also don't feel I can let the children be indoctinated into this. I don't mind the information they present, it is all of the mind control techniques that I object to."
Like you said in option 1, going to a different church with you on other sundays-that is a great thing...I great idea. I think if you offer your children an option, they will choose the right one. If you counter (not in a hostile way, but in a wise, open-way) any arguments elders have against other churches or beliefs, or against "worldly people" (you, their friends from school) then they will see both sides. Do not let them ever think you are a bad person and that you (or their worldly friends) will die at armageddon. Let them know about other "nice" beliefs that other religions have, ie: heavan, reincarnation, kharma, etc. Teach them other beliefs that are good.
The thing JWs do to get you, is they first and foremost try to "prove" how other religions beliefs are wrong. You need to counter this and make sure they keep an open mind. This will be so important because they could not possibly see the JWs as the right religion if they are aware of their constant other religion-bashing.
Try a really nice church like the Unitarian/Universal church. Also, perhaps add some Bhuddist philosophy?
I have to say...as a kid, I would have loved to have an "unbelieving" (which is a misnomer-as they might believe something-just a different thing) parent...as I would have done what I could (aside from faking sick) to get out of meetings!!! I would have liked to know that I had an option. MAKE SURE YOUR CHILDREN KNOW THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS!! -

Yeah, I could, and I am...only know since they are not shunning me. But when they were currently shunning, I was moving on and ready to forgive them then too. But, I am more cautious, and if they start more shunning crap again, maybe it will not hurt so bad.
