i am so angry right now, so hurt that my family allowed my brain to be washed and hung out to dry, and then have the nerve to tell me i am on the wrong path.

i wonder how do people let others do this to them?!

Tax question for any uk posters

my mates last wage slip was different this month,he seems to be paying more tax than usual,so he went and asked the boss and was told that the whole country is on emergency tax at the moment so we are all paying more and should recieve a rebate in the future,he's been with the company for over 10 years so it's not as if he's a new employee who always start off on emergency tax.. iv'e never heard anything like this before?

The normal tax code is 461L which equals 4615 tax free pay per year. He should be on this code from the 6 April, its nonsense to say that the whole country is on emergency code, I run payrolls each week for my clients, and I certainly don't have anyone on emergency code.

It seems like the payroll dept have got it wrong, unless of course, the Inland Revenue have notified him of a different tax code.

He will eventually get back any overpaid tax, but if it takes them weeks to sort it out, then your pockets could be empty !

hello friends,.

since i'm not going to the memorial for the first time since i've became a witness, i wanted to post my "j dub" life story as a form of therapy.. i guess i'm posting this here, also, as sort of a refreshment for others who taken this road.

after much study, i've finally disassociated myself - in my heart at least.

I really appreciated your "life story", and can honestly say that my husband was treated in very similar manner. Over thirty years a JW and not made a MS or Elder - If you face doesn't fit then you have no chance, it certainly isn't anything to do with spiritual qualifications.

Please post from time to time as many more new ones are coming on this forum and would benefit from your comments. We have two very dear friends who have recently come out of the Org. They will be getting their very first computer tomorrow and are looking forward to reading all the comments on this forum !

Presiding Overseer - is this a permanent position ?

can anyone tell me if the "position" of presiding overseer is one which changes every few years or is it now a "life time position".

my old congregation has recently had a visit from the co and the po appears to have been removed - could be very interesting :).

Probably what I haven't made too clear, is that this Presiding Overseer has not (as far as we know) been removed as an elder, but he has been replaced as P O by another elder - one who in our opinion is an awful person, a real liar who has upset many in the congregation.

This action of replacing the P O was taken shortly after the visit from the C O and after our letter requesting details of UN involvement etc. We had already waited 6 months for the Society and two elders to get back to us with the answers, and so this letter was requesting answers within 14 days, failing that we said that our conscience would no longer allow us to be associated with the organisation. Of course they didn't reply to us with any answers but waited the 14 days and then briefly said that they would take our names of the cong. local records.

We are now being shunned by JWs, as if we were the guilty ones !!!! when in fact all we have done is to ask questions, using only the WT information

I need help like I've never needed it before.....

i had a big conversation with a presiding overseer and brooklyn bethelite who called me after 8 years (since i left).

he invited me to the memorial and i explained why we are no longer jws citing the jw's investment in rand corporation as the number 1 reason.

he married my husband and i and we were once very close.

We had been through the same discussions with elders and other bros. & sisters.

My husband put the question on this forum in October 2002 (alias KAYTEE)

We had lots of help, especially from Gerard, If you go to the top of the page and search on Gerard, you will find KAYTEE's question (Oct 02) and from there you will see all of the scanned info and other comments, it was very useful for us and I'm sure that you will find it helpful.

I certainly hope that your parents realise just how hypocritical the witnesses really are - we were in for 32 years and are still in a "state of shock" realising how we were duped for that period of time.

Dress for Memorial

ok, advice please.

i just bought a red layered dress.

i don't know how to explain it completely, but it is a red chiffon and a copy of a very famous german styler.

That brings back memories of a day spent at the circuit assembly when a few sisters were doing a demonstration, I can't remember what it was all about now, but I remember that a "young sister" was asking an "older sister" if she thought this dress in a shop window would be suitable for the ministry work, and the comment was - well it's a bit too short and just look at the colour - bright red (horror in the voice), I couldn't help but feel sorry for sisters sitting in the audience who were wearing red, and there were quite a number of them.

Isn't it amazing how they can even tell you what colour to wear or not to wear, brain control at it's best!

In light of your indormation, I think that there must have been a number of complaints about the P.O. in question, as he isn't really in a situation where he could no longer serve the congregation, so I guess he must have been removed due to some wrongdoing. Of course, we are now being shunned as we have handed in our ultimatum letter, (which included complaints against this brother) so it's quite difficult to try to find out what really happened, do they have to make an announcement when they remove the Presiding Overseer, they are quick in announcing the ordinary brothers and sisters, when situations arise !
