it's been a long time since i posted here but i often read your messages when ian (dansk) logs on.
as most of you will know, ian will be going back into hospital on monday for an allogeneic stem cell transplant and will be away from the forum for a good few weeks (hopefully he'll be back home within 4-6 weeks).
last time he was in hospital many of you sent messages to his ward and i know they cheered him up immensely.

I've just tried to send a Jacqueline Lawson e-greeting card, using www.christie.nhs.uk/egreeting/default.aspx but it wouldn't accept the address, I even shortened it but still no luck !
Can you also give us the address of Christies Hospital, as we will probably send a "proper" card.

what was the last straw?
I had been in the Org for over 30 years and then one day, my son said he had come across an article about the WT + UN involvement. I couldn't believe it at first, and then we (me and husband Kaytee) decided to look into it, even phoning the UN in New York. Well, after it was confirmed, we then began to check out other things, False Prophecies, Paedophile issues, Blood U-Turn etc. We spent a whole week getting a letter together and sent it to the London Bethell, asking very politely, if they could explain these things to us. That was 4 or 5 years ago and we are still awaiting a reply !!!!

Yes we too love cooking.
Since my husband (Kaytee) retired, he really enjoys cooking and (trying!) to make bread and curries. His favourite is Dhansak, has anyone got a really good Dhansak recipe? I think we could open a book shop with the amount of recipe books he has bought recently. - he usually tends to "adapt" the recipe in some way, that way, if it's a disaster, it's because he didn't use exactly the right ingredients, if its a success, its because he adapted it
I've just made a very healthy and hearty leek and potato soup, so easy, and yet so tasty. Really good with a few big chunks of crusty bread.
He does a really good, lime cheesecake, I may be able to twist his arm for the secret recipe.

i've finally realized what my heart has been questioning for many years...'the truth', quite possibly/probably...is not.

I was fortunate to be able to escape the WT with my husband (Kaytee), and as all of our children are grown-up and not involved in the JWs it was easier for us to leave.
We were both in the Org. for over thirty years. During that time we never doubted that it was Jehovah’s Organisation, (although we were quite disillusioned by the brothers and sisters and their lack of love) until one day we came across the article written by the Guardian newspaper, re: Watchtower involvement with the United Nations. Even then we thought it must have been a hoax, still always believing that Jehovah was backing the Organisation. After checking many things out for ourselves, we came to the conclusion that the Organisation is full of hypocrites and liars. You only need to check out their history from their own literature to discover this!

i apologise for taking the liberty of using my alias to attract attention but a number of people have contacted me to ask what they could do to help by way of being a stem cell donor (without a stem cell donation soon i will likely die).
i cannot express enough just how appreciative i am for such wonderful thoughtful gestures.
it is possible that your stem cells are a perfect match for me and that you could literally save my life.. however, if you are not a match you could very well save someone else's life - so do please consider being a stem cell donor.

This post seemed to be getting lost (overnight) so I am replying again, in the hope that others will see it, and if possible some good results will come about.
I'm still intrigued re: the age restrictions, I expect there must be good reasons for this rule. But it does seems a pity to restrict a huge amount of the population based on age especially as there seems to be a shortage of bone marrow donors?
It's a beautiful morning here in Hereford, I hope that sunny Manchester lives up to it's name today.

Oh No !!! - I've checked out both sites and I'm too OLD to register.
It seems that you have to be between 18 - 40 on the Anthony Nolan site (but they keep you on the register until you're 60)
and 18 - 44 on the Blood site. Does anyone know the reason for this ?

Thanks for the info Ian.When I read about the stem cell need, I too was wondering about donating. Does it depend on your blood group? I'll go ahead and check out those two sites now. We're glad to hear that things are going ok for you at present.

i've been out for about 4 years and for the first time i've been able to find a place that understands how hard it was for me to get to where i am today after being raised a jw.
i feel like all of you can relate to having to start a new life from scratch after years of living a completely different one.
