how did noah put bitumen on the underside of the ark, did he get his family to lift it up allowing him to slide under and paint this on?
the underside being the most important face to be treated needed to be waterproof to make sure it did not allow leaks to occur, and had to stand up to extreme conditions for a whole year.

This is a good article re: Tree resin and Noah's Ark
The pitch for Noah’s Ark
by Tas B. Walker, B.E., Ph.D.
Many geologists claim that Noah could not possibly have built the ark in the
manner described in Genesis. They argue that pitch could not have been used to
cover the ark and make it waterproof. Pitch, they claim, is derived from oil or
coal, and if coal did not form until during the time of Noah’s Flood, he could
not possibly have covered the ark with pitch.
... But coal tar and petroleum are not the only source for pitch. Anyone who
takes the time to consult a reasonable dictionary of geology will find that
pitch can be extracted by distilling or heating wood. In fact, prior to the rise
of the petroleum and coal industries, this was exactly how pitch was made.
For at least one thousand years, the pitch-making industry in Europe flourished.
It was the pitch from this industry which assisted in the construction of those
great wooden sailing ships which figured so prominently in European history.
Pitch making was a skilled trade, and many European surnames bear testimony to
that fact today. ...
So how did they make pitch before the growth of the petroleum and coal
industries? Their first step was to obtain resin from the pine trees which at
that time grew in dense forests throughout Europe. A herringbone pattern of cuts
was gouged into the tree trunk and as the resin ran down the grooves it was
collected in a pot at the base of the tree. Pine resin is still collected in
this way in Poland, the Ukraine, Russia, Finland and other European countries
where pine forests are still to be found.
When the resin had finished flowing, the trees were chopped down, covered in
soil or ash, and burned slowly to produce a lightweight black pure form of
carbon called charcoal. The last step in the process of making pitch was to add
the powdered charcoal to the boiling pine resins. Different proportions of
char-coal would produce pitch of different properties. It was this pitch which
was used to waterproof the large ocean-going wooden ships.
Now while I cannot say for sure that Noah obtained pitch for the ark exactly in
this fashion, it does illustrate that you don’t have to be able to extract
either oil or coal from the ground in order to make pitch. Anyone who had cut
down as many trees as Noah and his helpers for the manufacture of an ocean-going
ark would certainly have found out about tree resins.
I found this through the answersingenesis.org website

This is a good point re: tree resin and Noah's Ark

he believes that many individuals leave the truth because it is hard; and they look for any miscue to escape the organization and their responsibility to god.
There are of course, some who leave because they want to do their own thing. But the majority, it appears leave because of principles.
I gave the best years of my life to the JWs (from 22 years old), I was gullible and believed that I really was doing the right thing in God's eyes. Then came the UN/WT bombshell !!
As others have said, it's not easy leaving, knowing full well, that from then on, you will be shunned by the friends that you've know for over 30years. But if you have principles, how can you go along with their hypocrisy and lies ?

did anybody else get to watch that two-hour presentation last night on history channel on dangerous cults?
an excellent program, imho.. i thought it was a real eye-opener on several fronts.. first, they made the particular point of the general similarity of many cults: commonality included such things as the disturbed self-appointed messianic visionary founder (i.e.
jim jones, applegate, charlie manson, david koresh, the pseudo-mormon polygamy guy, and such), the die-hard belief in an apocylptic prophecy, the manipulation of the followers by thought control (brainwashing) techniques, sexual control or manipulation of the followers, monetary exploitation of the followers, the desire to make the followers look ridiculous to normal persons, the tendency to create communes and to isolate the followers from society, the belief that certain of the cult activities are in fact in fulfillment of eschatological prophecy and are thus "helping" to bring about the collapse of society, .
Here in the UK we have a "History" channel through SKY TV, will this be the same channel as shown in the US?
I certainly would like to watch this if it comes on again.

'although subjection can be challenging, women can welcome it as honorable, even as did jesus.
This one must have been a good pal of the woman in Judges 9.

Judges 9 v 53 "...then a certain WOMAN pitched an upper millstone upon Abimelech's head and broke his skull in pieces"
I bet she didn't ask permission from her husband or the elders first
Anyway, who would argue with a "mere woman", who was strong enough to pitch a millstone !

since i have been out of the jws, i have found the freedom to look into other beliefs.
i remember when i was in the org.
how they used to say that the christadelphians are so similar in beliefs to the jws that they must be controlled by satan, especially as they do not beleive in satan as a person/individual.
I saw this old post of mine = well over one year ago now. Youngpete must have been searching for Christadelphians subjects, but still, it was good to see further comments on this thread.
Time has moved on, and after months of looking open-mindly into the bible and bible researchers books, I now am more of the understanding that God, whatever his name may be, is not with any one church. I don't even know if the bible was inspired by God. The more you research, the more confusing it gets.
