“ So the Bible itself warns us not to take the story of Moses's 10 catastrophes against Egypt or the story of his separation of the Red Sea. ”
Where does the Bible say this?
I didn’t know it told us not to take these miracles literally?
the watchtower—study edition | september 2023. study article 37. rely on jehovah, as samson did.
4 consider an example of samson’s trust in jehovah and of the support that god supplied.
on one occasion, a philistine military force had come to capture samson at lehi, evidently in judah.

if it’s looking like someone may be disfellowshiped or announced they are no longer a jw and they don’t want to be shunned they just want to fade without being shunned - just say that would make me suicidal .
simple.
in the new shepherding book it says if they say that then don’t go ahead with it.
Yes the less said the better.
Some really do manage to fade by just stopping coming to any meetings or ministry and avoiding all JWs for a couple of years.
They would have to avoid replying to any anyone in the congregation and hope they don’t run into anyone and they would have to somehow avoid the elders attempts to come and talk to them. Sometimes elders wait outside their workplace or their home trying to ambush them and get them to say something anything at all that can be twisted and used against them.
This is why moving away for a while is a good tactic
sometimes elders make something up based on something they said.
if all else fails and the individual really doesn’t want to be shunned then just say they are feeling suicidal
once everyone knows this there should never ever be anymore shunning ever again 😀

un camps are a provision from jehovah .

.
“ We've been hearing for a number of years now about following instructions whether or not they seem practical from a human standpoint or not.”
Yes that will be it going forward- keep talking the shots, sign up for the digital ID, stay within your 15 minute city go to the concentration camp when told to.
and then don’t believe the conspiracy theorists who say the vaccines are not safe
a good question is would you be more happy not knowing what you now know?.
were you more happy pimi?
are all the pimis more happy than the the pimos or the pomos?.
“ He’s now living under a bridge addicted to Meth”
So he would definitely be more happy staying PIMI or at least PIMA
a good question is would you be more happy not knowing what you now know?.
were you more happy pimi?
are all the pimis more happy than the the pimos or the pomos?.
Yes I thought we were done when you brought up flat earth and I asked you please don’t keep telling me to read a flat earth book , just one!
I did not lie it was you who brought this off topic the post you claimed that I did here is absolutely on topic-
“The person who started the thread took it in this direction here...
That was on page two”
This is exactly on topic, someone who is so sure they have found the truth, like you claim Cofty, what if it could be shown to you that what you think is the truth may not be? I suspect you think you would be happier not looking at this argument and if you did see it then you may wish you hadn’t?
This is why it’s such an interesting topic
a good question is would you be more happy not knowing what you now know?.

Getting back to the TV show Silo that we talked about earlier I have just seen upto episode 10.
Long story short what they came to realise was not true because they had another belief system presented- also turned out also not to be the truth.
They were told they would die outside but they were presented a belief system where it was actually green and lush, they believed this but actually there is a lot more to it.
This is a bit like someone believes what we have been told about the Bible then are presented with Darwin’s first theory that it was a Big Bang purely by chance and there is no intelligence involved at all.
But maybe there is a lot more to it than that. Just like Silo some who used to believe the Bibles promises went totally over to blind chance Big Bang no intelligence involved at all.
what if there was intelligence involved and what if the Bible does have a lot of meaning for us but we just don’t understand it properly?
But I’m open to the possibilities that people in Cofty’s camp maybe right that there was no intelligence involved and it’s all just blind chance. Even if this is the case I think to live your life with a little bit of hope in the Bibles promises can be helpful especially when someone is going through a very very hard time to tell them what the Bible promises.
This is not disingenuous to just tell them this is what the Bible promises and they may find comfort in this hope. I can still find comfort in the hope even though my view is it may be right or it maybe wrong.
I think that a lot more of the 8 million JWs are like me, than most think. They go along with things because they like the congregation but at the end of the day they think to themselves it may be true or it may not be.
i can confirm that the co during one of his service talks stated that zoom is a provision for elderly, infirmed, as well as people who might need it on occasion due to health reasons, otherwise you are expected to be in person at meetings and in the ministry.
this had to come down from the top.
maybe they do not want to put it in a gb update or broadcast since that would be too public i suppose.
Many more are becoming PZMI then slowly drifting to PZMO
a good question is would you be more happy not knowing what you now know?.
were you more happy pimi?
are all the pimis more happy than the the pimos or the pomos?.
So back on topic I’m wondering could you actually have all the advantages of PIMI by talking about the hope of the Bibles promises coming true, and have the advantages of PIMO by not wasting your life too much by sitting on the fence and being PIMA like me?
a good question is would you be more happy not knowing what you now know?.
were you more happy pimi?
are all the pimis more happy than the the pimos or the pomos?.
I never made the statement that - “it is definitely better to be wilfully ignorant” Cofty you are once again twisting things.
Im certainly asking that question and wondering perhaps people are happier PIMI than PIMO.
But I’m also asking the question if there is a third option to be agnostic and keep a little bit of hope that the Bible maybe be right at least partially.
As as said before Cofty took this off topic, most PIMI’s have to admit they only have a hope of the Bibles promises. Well I have that hope as well even though my view is it may be right or it may be wrong.
This is where I’m at right now but what I’ve learnt is never feel you can’t change your belief if there is a good reason to.
I feel it’s dangerous to be so set in your belief system and hold on to it ignoring anything that doesn’t feed your confirmation bias
