i am sure we were all shocked at the governing body update #2 with the unusual and impulsive changes set forth.. i am an insider at whq, and when i was on reddit and in communication with avoidjw i explained to the best of my ability that the approach on disfellowshipping was going to change based on the new light at the 2023 agm, that the jubilee rumor was false, and there were going to be changes on how jws approached disfellowshipping in response to the norway situation if it didn't turn out in watchtower's favor.
the decision came because of a legal blow to watchtower, not because "holy spirit" wad directing a faithful slave, who is going to become the "evil slave", more explanation on this soon.. everything i stated came true.

one theory why tony was booted out was because he was a stickler for not changing the shunning doctrine.

In addition to what Tonus stated, back in the 1970's there was a period of time when the shunning was relaxed towards DF who were not continuing to practice sin and not opposers to the WT, such as someone attending with the intent to be reinstated.
I have heard older ones talk about this change. It would not be surprising if they flip flopped back again into a modern equivalent of the old light.
yes I can easily see an updated understanding of only having to shun those who are really bad and no need to shun those who are good people who just don’t believe anymore?
but who gets to decide which category each individual fits in? If they leave it upto JWs then some loved ones will have exceptions

As I understand things, the American HQ does not support financially countries once the work is 'established'. As a result if Norway ends up in the red, its will be allowed to die on the vine. And in the end we would expect the Norwegian Brothers to see more halls going up for sale and congregation mergers. But I do feel that there is a little more time before we see this happening, as the local Branch could start encouraging publisher 'donations' more ... or put higher levies on the assembly halls, to make up the difference.
Maybe they would try to move donations from Norway to another country so as to avoid paying tax on them.
They did lose charity status in France a few decades ago. They had to start paying fair 40% tax on all donations.

Yes same as long time Trekkie not so interested in Star Trek as they used to be, but just love the social aspect.
It’s like a Trekkie enjoying being a Trekkie and all the meet ups and all the friends who share a common interest. You may not be all that interested in start track anymore but you have such good friendships so you pretend you are still interested. Maybe loads of your friends are the same you and are also just pretending to be still interested in Star Trek as it’s a common thread that you all share.
The GB would hate it if they got wind of large numbers compared to Trekkies.
